Dimension Shift Ninja
cards such as Jinzo are continious effects "As long as this card remains face up on the field...." and so on. and the effect will take place as long as it is still on the field until destroyed, removed or whatever.

but what if a monster had an effect that stated this.

When this card is successfully Normal Summoned, Trap cards cannot be activated.

does this mean that trap cards such as trap hole cant be played since it is Normal Summoned? and if it remains on the field with an effect that states trap cards cannot be activated, is this effect continious like Jinzo even though it doesn't state "As long as this card remains face up on the field..." and so on?

Actually that would be the same as Jinzo IMO in that if the card is turned face down or removed from the field for any reason then the effect of that card could no longer be "enforced" causing it to disappear. I do know of several critters in the RDS set that have that ability for almost any attribute type.

In other words, treat those the same as Jinzo. The only "trap" that can be used would be Solemn Judgement or Horn of Heaven as they **negate** the summon entirely. Just remember that these new "mini-zos" are subject to spells like Double Snare, etc.

haha yea i kno, i was reading on the Rise of Destiny spoiler, and stated like 7 or 8 different monsters of different attributes and types with the same effects as jinzo. they better have all these little jinzoz restricted to one the moment they come out haha

thanks for the speedy reply

also, its only for the turn in which they are summoned.

the only cards that can change this is solem judgement or Horn of Heaven, since they upto this point are the only cards that can kill summons.

hence the reason why it states, if this card is normal summoned successfully.

so when you summon it, if it manages to summon considering your opponent doesnt play horn of heaven or solem judgement then the effects apply.

just like the situation with Mobius or zaborg. when they get to summon, then they pull their effects but if they dont, then their effects are never activated.

the mini-jinzo's will not be restricted, since if you read the full spoiler most of the time they will be used for a combo with weathering volcano, which only activates when the certain attributes are on the field, If you notice each of the mini jinzos are the attributes required for this card.

not to mention they are fairly weak.

dont really expect to see them in sealed pack or booster draft. since there isnt many many traps to worry about in RDS.

but when it comes down to Constructed, then you might want to pack a few Book of moons, it will not kill off their effects, but it will kill off the combos that you can set up with them.

but do expect to see the Trains and harpies in sealed and booster draft.

as well as shifting life form hormonoculus. :)

Actually, I would rather be inclined to think that Traps cannot be used in response to their summon rather then them continuously negating traps.

Just my 50 cents.

I would agree with Mortals, it would appear they would prevent Traps such as Torrential Tribute or Trap Hole, but I would believe that is where it ends. If you attacked with one of these even in the same round I would assume you could use Mirror Force, Gravity Bind etc. The effect looks like it only prevents activation of Trap cards "when" the monster is successfully summoned more of an immunity from a response instead of a blanket protection.

im rather sure mortals and anthonyj are correct about the traps only being negated for a very short time. why on earth would they make a version that stops traps during the battle phase if the 'mini jinzos' would be able to negate them the whole turn? that and the wording on the card seems to point out they arent really like jinzo at all,'

the problem here is that not the whole text was posted i belive.

i really belive that they stop all traps for the turn in which they are summoned because there is another monster card that negates traps during battle phase. so its not just when they are summoned.

ill look for the text.

When this card is successfully Normal Summoned, Trap cards can't
be activated.

thats the text, i guess you guys are right about the text, but i think the condition might end up being for the remainder of the turn.

we will just have to wait and see what happens at the sneek peak.

really tho... i dont think they can stop being traps from activated coniniously like jinzo, it has to state "As long as this card remains face up on the field..."

just slowly think about it

When this cards is successfully normal summoned, trap cards cannot be activated.

the effect only applies when it gets "normal summoned" and thats it.

jinzo's effect is continous, meaning if he is summoned period his effect activates as soon as he lands on the field, BUT it can be stopped by a simple book of moon.

now, these new monsters have the condition only when they are normal summed, Not special, Not fliped summoned, or Flipped faced up, ONLY summoned.

that means, if you ever want to use the effect then you have to summon it by hand.

maybe it will turn out for the remainder of the turn that it was summoned, but like i said we will have to wait and see what happens this sat-sun.

The effect of this monster prevents the activation of Trap Cards that can be activated when a monster is Normal Summoned, such as "Trap Hole" and "Torrential Tribute".

You can activate Trap Cards later in the turn.

The effect of this monster is applied to both players (so you cannot activate "Pineapple Blast" in response to your Normal Summon of this monster).

This is a Continuous Effect that you cannot chain to.
