I'm determined to write the reviews, whether anyone likes them or not :0. Today, we are going to examine a fun type of stalling, quite different from the usual Gravity Bind, Messenger of Peace, etc. We will examine the "cannot be destroyed in battle, or by an effect" type of stall. You want another card list? Fine. *grumble*

Different Dimension Dragon
Obnoxious Celtic Guard
Spirit Reaper
Heart of Clear Water
Gyroid
Gora Turtle

Ok, short list, I know. But I will talking more about each card today than I have in the past, so it should even out. Here they are again, one at a time:

Different Dimension Dragon: An excellent card. It is immune to:
Smashing Ground
Dark Hole
Torrential Tribute
Lightning Vortex, etc.
All commonly played 4 star or lower monsters except Berserk Gorilla, and the "GAF - like" monsters.

That is a lot of staple - ish cards. It is a 5 star, but can be fielded with Masked Dragon quite easily. Imagine, a 1500 or less monster, that acts like it is a 1900 attack monster. Hmmm...

Obnoxious Celtic Guard: Commonly mistaken as "Guardian", he is even more resistant to battle than the dragon, although less resistant to effects. Still, You'd be amazed how long it takes the opponent to bust out a monster with over 1200, but under 1900 attack strength. He is truly obnoxious.

Spirit Reaper: TOTAL immunity to battle, but NO immunity to effects. Maybe keep a Solemn Judgment, to defend him. With all the emphasis on Zombies of late, I probably don't even need to mention Pyramid Turtle, but I just did. Running three turtles, three reapers, and three Book of Life should hold them off quite a while.

Gyroid: You'd be surprised. You really would. In order to kill it, the opponent would have to have two monsters who each have over 1000 attack strength. This is not really all that easy. If you had Messenger of Peace on the field, your opponent would have to have atleast two monsters who each have over 1000 and under 1500 attack. Very difficult to kill. The Dark Door makes kim unstoppable. If you have Heavy Mech Support Platform, he just won't DIE! A better card than you might think.

Heart of Clear Water: This is it. The card that gives your Different Dimension Dragon COMPLETE immunity to EVERYTHING except trample and Guardian Sphinx. This is what it's about. Even after they destroy the heart, you can probably attach another before they manage to knock out DDD, he's so resilient. You WILL stall with this card, I guarantee it.

Gora Turtle: Do I need to say much about him? He's basically another kind of Obnoxiuos Celtic Guard.

I hope you enjoyed this review. Perhaps someone would like to make an exodia deck based on these methods some day. Eh?

I personally hate DD Dragon, but I've seen lots of people use it with pretty good results!

This I disagree with however. At least half the monsters I see put against me would rip him to shreds. Blade Knight, Breaker, DDWL, DD Assailant, Reflect Bounder, Kycoo, Exarion, Ninja Grandmaster, Strike Ninja... the list goes on an on. OBG is a useless card IMO.

Aren't both Earth based and Warrior based decks usually really aggressive? Why would they need a stalling card, and a pretty dire one at that?

I dunno, maybe :)
They don't. But in a stall deck, he's more effective than you think. Try him.

The interesting thing about all out stall decks is that the monsters you can use are all over the place. Its like a themeless convention, at first glance.

Wave Motion Cannon decks, or other automatic burners, like Dark Snake Syndrome or Burning Land

FINAL decks, Spatial Collapse decks, Final Countdown decks. Things like that easily stick in the cards that pssvr mentioned, and then some. DDDragon and HoCW; Spirit Reaper and The Unhappy Maiden; Gyroid and Neko Mane King; It can keep going.

I have to say that Gyroid really is a pain to deal with. I have a friend who went with a Toon/Roid deck that was an absolute blood boiler. While it could be beat, its main aim was to annoy the beebees out of me. And Gyroid did a spectacular job of that.
