Am I the only one??

Am I the only one that thinks that this particular ruling is a bit out of wack:
Axe of Despair

Increase the ATK of a monster equipped with this card by 1000 points. When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard, if you Tribute 1 monster on your side of the field, this card returns to the top of your Deck.

Woodland Sprite

Send 1 Equip Card equipped to this card to the Graveyard. Inflict 500 points of damage to your opponent's Life Points.

Now check out the ruling between this two cards:
Ruling

An Equip Spell Card sent to the Graveyard by this card's effect is not "destroyed". So the effects of "Butterfly Dagger - Elma", "Axe of Despair", "Malevolent Nuzzler", "Blast with Chain", or "Smoke Grenade of the Thief" cannot or will not be activated.

I don't see Axe of Despair's text mention anything about needed to be destroyed in order to trigger its effect. Now curiously enough there is no restriction to Emergency Provisions in this particular case, and even more oddly cards with similar texts like:
Sangan

When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard, select 1 monster with an ATK of 1500 or less from your Deck, show it to your opponent, and add it to your hand. Then shuffle your Deck.

do activate by ANY means that this card is sent to the grave...

Am I missing something here :icon_conf, any thoughts about this?.

theres prob someone out there that knows this, but from the start of the game, i remmeber reading that when things are sent to the graveyard from the feild that meant it was destroyed, i think i read that in the ygo manual, then they later changed it.......so yea....food for thought

:), no, no, seems novastar did understood what I was trying to say. My only concern is the incorrect statement of the ruling, the FAQ, places Axe of Despair and Woodland Sprite's sending to the grave, a cause for Axe of Despair's effect not to trigger due to it NOT being destroyed.

I'm just implying that this statement is incorrect, they should review it and explain the real motive for AoD's effect to miss it's timing, and not declare that it doesn't get it because it did not get destroyed.

I was just sharing my incomformity with this statement :), but what novastar suggested might be the best thing to do.

Well, isnt it just because Axe of Despair isnt the last thing to resolve, just as someone already stated?

It's not a Mandatory Effect, so you cant activate it after you inflict 500 damage to your opponent, can you cant activate the effect in the middle of Woodland Sprite's effect.

Besides, I think that may be a erroneous ruling that included Axe of depair with Woodland Sprite. It doesnt need to be destroyed, just sent.

Ok, just to make sure everybody understands the sole purpose of this thread..lol.

Slither was merely pointing out the ruling inconsistency with the wording and Reasoning for "Woodland Sprite" and "Axe of Despair".

The "Axe of Despair" doesn't need to be destroyed for it's effect to activate. It merely needs to be sent from the field to the Graveyard.

The ruling in question clearly states that "Axe of Despair" won't get it's effect when sent to the Graveyard by "Woodland Sprite"s effect because it was not destroyed. It does not mention timing issues at all.

That's all he was pointing out.

All I was trying to say is, sometimes when you are doing things and not paying attention, you end up putting the right statement with the wrong thing.

It could just be a simple matter of them really meaning for it to be Butterfly Dagger - Elma instead, and did a poor job with a "cut and paste" statement, and since Axe of Despair was going to be in there somewhere anyway, it was never corrected to reflect that Axe of Despair does not get the effect, and the real reason why.
