Asura Priest

I have a question that relates to the ruling a judge gave to my friend at regionals. If my opponent has monsters on the field, and I summon Asura Priest, can I skip attacking their monsters and attack their life points directly? A judge told my friend that he could do this, but I have a real hard time accepting this ruling on the text of Asura Priest.

Erm...no.

Asura Priest does not have a built in direct attacking ability like Jinzo #7, Rainbow Flower and Inaba White Rabbit.
