Battery Man D

Mexican Diablillo!!
Good day,people....dumb question, but the effect of this monster doesn't apply to other copies of itself?..i mean, if i have 2 Marauding Captain's, i know that my opp. wouldn'' be able to attack, but if i have 2 Battery Man D?..the effect applies to thunder type monsters, but it states that Battery man D is the exception, would that be true if i have 2 Battery man D face up?...could my opp. be able to attack or not?.

Thanks, and sorry if this was astupid question.....

It depends on how specific UDE/Konami is being about the name "Batteryman D". Lately the template has been "cards named XXXX" when referring to every instance of that name, whereas a mention of a card itself is only referring to itself and not ever other card with that same name.

I've see it go back and forth with this game though. A few years ago the phrase "except Slime Tokens" on Jam Breeding Machine only referred to Slime Tokens that had been generated by that specific card. Later on, they changed it to any card named "Slime Token". I would search the Judge's List right quick and then try submitting this one if you don't see the answer evident there.

Batteryman D refers to any monster named "Batteryman D". Having 2 copies of the card out does not create a lock. It merely means the opponent can choose either of them as the attack target (assuming any other monsters you have are Thunder-Type).

If it meant "except this card" it would say just that. It's from EOJ, which means it's new enough that you can half-believe the wording (as opposed to the old Ultimate Offering, for example; this card is simple enough that its effect is worded properly).

i did search it in the judges forums, but i wanted to see first if any of you would be more aware of this case...and thanks, maruno, the main reason that i posted this because i wanted to make sure i was in the right track, i assumed that, in fact, you could attack another copy of batteryman D if they were 2 of them, i just wanted to make sure i was correct.

in any case, i didn't find anything regarding this case in the judges forums...let me post it to be 100% certain

Thanks a lot, u guys!!

It's best you do that. It's happened before that logical rulings have been overthrown because the Powers That Be discover they've overlooked the text and it's actually wrong.
