Is it mandatory to remove a card from my opponents graveyard? What if they don't have one? I can't play it?

No, your opponent MUST have a monster in their graveyard when you activate Book of Life. If you activate it then your opponent activates Call of the Haunted and they have no monsters left in their graveyard, you still can use Book of Life since it only needs the opponent's monster in the graveyard when you activate it initially. So as long as your opponent has a monster in the graveyard (and you too) when you activate Book of Life, you can use it.

If it's on your side of the field, then yes you can.

If it's on your opponent's side, then no.

Remember, 'Kycoo' only prevents YOUR opponent from removing monsters from either graveyard, not YOU. The YOU and YOUR is referring to the controller of 'Kycoo'.

Oh ok That helps a lot thanx. I'm building a Zombie deck. I bought a Strucutre Zombie but I have to tweak it. The kycoos will stop my opponent from ramming DDs into my undeads.

Are you referring to 'D.D. Warrior Lady' or 'D.D. Assailant' or both?

'Kycoo' cannot prevent EITHER of their effects from activating/resolving since they remove the monsters from the field, NOT the graveyard.

'Kycoo' ONLY prevents the opponent from removing monsters from either players' graveyards.

Yup...'Divine Wrath'...IF you are lucky enough to have one (or more) set when they activate the DDs effect.

Damn those are so rare to get. Everyone who has one wants to keep theirs. In the store it sells a 1st ed 1 for like 10 bucks. I think thats overpriced.

'Skill Drain' can't stop a DDs effect since the DDs will no longer be face up on the field when the effect resolves. They will be removed from play.

Silent Swordsman Lv5 has no effect in the grave, so you may remove it from play through the effect of Book of Life.
