Book of moon

Scen1:
Player A attacks player B's monster with his monster
Player B activate book of moon to turn opponent's monster face-down.

What happens in this scenario?

Scen2:
Player A attacks Player B's face-up man-eater bug with his monster.
Player B activate book of moon to flip his man-eater bug down.

And in this scenario then?

Please help me to get out of this confusion!

The 1st attack comes to a complete halt, as there is no attacker.

The 2nd attack resolves as normal. The attacks calculate ATK vs. DEF, like any old attack.

Actually in the first scenario, since it was the attacking monster that was flipped, that attack would simply stop. The second scenario would result in Man-Eater Bug being turned face down, then flipped face up and destroying 1 monster on the field.
