If you have Breaker the Magical Warrior on the field and break a spell or trap card with his effect of destroying a spell counter, and your opponent flips curse of Royal to destroy Breaker the Magical Warrior(When this card is successfully Normal Summoned, put 1 Spell Counter on it (max. 1). Increase the ATK of this monster by 300 points for each Spell Counter on this card. Also, you can remove 1 Spell Counter from this card to destroy 1 Spell Card or Trap Card on the field)

Does Curse of Royal work(Negate the activation of a card that includes the effect of destroying 1 spell or trap card and destroy it.)

No, you can not use Curse of Royal to destroy Breaker. Curse of Royal was errated. Click here to see the new card effect.

Curse of Royal can only be activated to counter Traps or Spell card, not for monsters effect.

What is a spell counter considered to be?

A Spell Counter. A Spell Counter is a Spell Counter, nothing more, nothing less (so it's not treated as a Spell Card, Trap Card, or anything other than a Spell Counter).

What is a spell counter considered to be?
A spell counter is more like an imaginary item placed on the s/t/monster as a marker of its effect. For example breaker's counter is just an imaginary thing that gives it 300 attack and allows it to be used up to destroy one s/t. you can use a paper clip or coin or something like that to denote it.
Is there a way to stop spell counters?
Well, Exhausting Spell (mfc trap) can destroy all counters on both side of field, i don't think any other card specifically targets counters. but if for cards like tower of babel/magical marionette/ royal magical library which uses counters, you can destroy the monster/spell/trap itself, and the counters will automatically be void :D

Burn, there are couple of ways to handle Breaker's effect when it is activated:

1. You can chain the targeted card.
If the targeted card is chainable and was set for at least 1 turn, then you can chain that card to the effect of Breaker.
Example:
Player A: Chain Link 1:activates Breaker's effect and targets Player B's face-down Waboku
Player B: Chain Link 2: chains Waboku
Resolution:
Chain Link 2: Waboku make all Battle Damage inflicted by monsters on your opponent's side of the field 0 during this turn.
Chain Link 2: Breaker destroys Waboku

Since Breaker's effect does not negate but only destroys, Waboku's effect still resolves.

2. You can chain Skill Drain.
If your opponent uses Breaker's effect on one of your Spell or Trap cards, you can chain Skill Drain to its effect. If Breaker is still face-up on the field when his effect resolves, then his effect will be negated by Skill Drain.
Example:
Player A: Chain Link 1:activates Breaker's effect and targets Player B's Trap Card
Player B: Chain Link 2: chains Skill Drain
Resolution:
Chain Link 2: Skill Drain activates.
Chain Link 2: Since Breaker is face-up on the field, his effect disappears.
Note:If you opponent chains Ring of Destruction to Skill Drain and targets his/her own Breaker, then Breaker's effect will still resolves because he is not affected by Skill Drain for he is not faced-up on the field anymore.

3. You can chain Fake Trap to save your targeted Trap Card.
