Hi all,

I searched the forums and only found what appeared to be fairly outdated information on card sleeves.

So, I have a few questions and would like to know what other peeps here do:

1) Card Sleeve Size : I prefer Yu-Gi-Oh sized sleeves but my local card shop only carries regular sized. What size do you prefer?

2) Shuffling : I've noticed that when corner shuffling (regular card shuffle with the corners closest to each other) the top-loader styles can get jammed when the corner of one card goes into the top openning of another card. So I have to shuffle with the sides parallel. Are there better shuffling tricks?

3) Outside Graphic : What types are legal for tournament play? Solid Color only? Pictures ok?

I'm asking this stuff now since I've never played in a tourney and my 7 yo son told me he wants to start playing in tourneys, so I figured we should start getting our decks ready. I've already found some good posts on what to take to tourneys but haven't found enough info on sleeves. Thanks.

Soil out.

1. I use whatever size sleeves slide the best off each other. I dont like sleeves sticking to each other. These are usually regular sized.

2. Shuffling tricks can be discussed till all hours its basicly whatever works for you. as far as corner shuffling goes just a little bit more of an angle and it works out fine. Careful not to bend them too much though.

3. As long as everything is the exact same and its decent there is no reason why any graphic cant be used. Remember EVERY sleeve the EXACT same and keep it clean (no nudity/scantily clad females. This includes furries)

Really sleeves arent as important as most people say. As long as they are of a half decent quality and are unmarked then go for it.

One thing to keep in mind though. I have noticed something about the regular, Magic sized, sleeves. Since they are bigger, the cards tend to slide around some inside the sleeve. This can lead to damaged cards. It does happen.

If you are having a problem finding sleeves, try ebay, or aplayerschoice.com. They sell them in 60 card packs and are the right size. I use them and they rarely tear. The front tends to be a bit shiny, but this fades over time.

As far as Premier Events go, you can ONLY use Yugioh Size Sleeves. Your Local Stores are not necessarily going to hold you to this standard.

When it comes to the different types of Colors and Printings, you will find that you have the least problems with Sleeves that have no designs, and are non-reflective. Your "Basic Black" sleeves are preferred by the majority of players asked.

Those that attempt to use Sleeves with pictures or elaborate art, are just trying their luck, as each Head Judge can certainly deny their use, while plain sleeves rarely have problems unless they are older or scratched/marked etc...
