Cards with no resolving effect

Hi there, im new to this forum, just been visiting for a few days and decidded to get in... anyways i read in a thread earlier that if a card that u play cannot be resolved.
But what if you have 3 gather your mind, can you activate the last one, even though you dont have ay left, just to shuffle your deck? also another thin i wander, some search cards don´t say that you must shuffle your deck, but all old searching cards did... so is it just implied or u dont shuffle your deck?

Every time you search your deck....you shuffle. Even if the card doesn't specifically state to do so.

It is supposed to be an understood thing.
It's not a very well understood thing...lol...;)

The general move lately with newer cards has been that you cannot activate things that search your deck when there are no more in the deck. Unfortunately, with older cards, this is not true and you are allowed to search even when you know there aren't any more of the needed card in your deck.

It is now a case-by-case basis as to what the ruling will be.
