tk whats your comps spec. if it can handle having a mic plugged in and can handle running something like audacity or castblater then you have everything you need. Audacity is free and castblaster costs money so whichever you choose is up to you. Thats all a podcast needs.
I don't remember the specs off the top of my mind right now. I'd have to give you those over AIM when I get home from the college. If by mic you mean head set, then I believe my computer could do audio podcasts then. But I'll say that I have neither heard or have audacity and castblater.
However, a couple of things that are preventing me from pursuing this is not having the necessary software/equipment and a quiet enough area to conduct a smooth sounding piece of work. Where my current desktop PC is located is in my basement. But I do feel that I could request my family to not go down into the basement during the podcasting sessions; which if I did this would roughly be weekly.
One thing I've noticed is a nice catchy introduction song to podcast episodes. If any of you have heard of the person called "Gaming Steve" would notice how professionally done his audio podcasts are done. I would use a similar format method in doing mine, since I hate not planning for something like this.
Keep in mind that Gaming Steve's podcasts are usually over 45 minutes. On average his podcasts are about an hour long. So I figure that if I can cover 30-45 minutes of information that it could be a very benefiting service. You should also note that I'm not a part of EGI.
So EmeraldDragon, I'll get back to you on my desktop PC's specs. What in particular are you wanting to know? Memory? HD size? Operating software? Processor? If those are some of the questions you need answers to, then I can give those to you right now.
512 MGs of RAM, 40 G HD, Win 98, and Intel Pentium 3.
I do have a question about podcast storaging. Do these audio podcast files take up a lot of HD space? I don't exactly have a lot of spare storage space on my 40 G HD. =/
