OK, how do you guys rule here?

Player 1 has Relinquished on the Field. He plays Cold Wave in Main Phase 1. Can Player 1 equip an opponent's monster to his Relinquished?

Co-related question. Player 1 has X-Head Cannon on the Field. He plays Cold Wave. Can he summon Heavy Mech Support Platform and equip it to the X-Head Cannon?

Just to add. You would also not be able to Special Summon an equipped Union monster to the field if "Cold Wave" is activated because you would be trying to activate an effect of an Equip Spell Card.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the many quick responses. Judging from the number of responses here, these questions were a bit tricky.

Player 1 has Relinquished on the Field. He plays Cold Wave in Main Phase 1. Can Player 1 equip an opponent's monster to his Relinquished?
As far as I know, using Relinquished or Thousand-Eyes Restrict to equip an opponent's monster is legal, as we are using a Monster effect. ATK and DEF are determined by the effect of Relinquished or TER, not the equip card, so the monster should get stats, unless the equip card is face-down.

Co-related question. Player 1 has X-Head Cannon on the Field. He plays Cold Wave. Can he summon Heavy Mech Support Platform and equip it to the X-Head Cannon? And do you get any effects from HMSP?
Again, I'd have to rule, the player is using a monster effect to turn itself into an Equip Spell card and Cold Wave won't stop that. Initially, I was thinking HMSP would boost ATK & DEF by 500 since that is a continuous effect, but it wouldn't be able to prevent the destruction of the equipped monster. However, as pointed out the latter effect is not a trigger effect: it does not go on chain (that I am aware of). So HMSP should still be able to sacrifice itself to prevent the destruction of its targeted machine monster. (unless Cyber Phoenix is on your side of the field).

I asked the above questions for a friend who wants to make a Chilly CyberDark monster deck...
