Thanks to some suggestions and discussion with the Lair of the Dark Monarchs, the CookieSlayer Collective is quickly taking shape. On the 9th of this month (this coming Thursday), I will be releasing the official applications for membership and our finalized charter and member guidelines. This does not mean that our charter and guidelines will not undergo some tweaking and evolution as time progresses. This simply means that we will have something solidified in place to begin membership drives. As always, slack will be needed as we explore this strange new continent of original thinking and collaboration.

As a precursor to our official launch, we are opening our forums to the public to let everyone get a feel for the nature of the group, and to participate in discussion and and collaboration. In this way, it is hoped that everyone interested in joining can get a sense of what the Collective has to offer, and what like minded thinkers can accomplish when ignoring conventional wisdom, and pushing the limits of original thought. Feel free to post anywhere appropriately in these forums, including the deck sections or in our strategy forums.

The Collective will officially launch November 16th, 2006, which is when a portion of our forums will be open to members only. There will still be a section open to the public (sections to be decided), and I will be glad to provide transcripts of any deck or strategy threads started by users who have decided not to join the Collective, but can't gain access to suggestions made about their deck/idea after the Open House.

In addition to the release of our applications on the 9th, I'll be making promotional items available to members only, as well as making some cursory items available in our very own Online Store.

You can visit our forums at http://z10.invisionfree.com/CookieSlayers

Feel free to review the original thread I started on the Collective, or post here if you have any additional questions.

Originality is about to strike...

Nothing will ever be the same.

This is exciting news. Even though I am retiring from the game, at least competitive play, I'd like to be a part of this.

Congragulations on getting this started. It's a big step forward for the game.

I dont visit that board except once or twice a year. let me know what the response is, coming from pojo. It is, after all, one of the largest online gaming sites for ygo.

So far nothing at all. We were bumped to page 2 in a matter minutes. Clearly, a different strategy is required.

There will be a slight delay on those promo items. Hopefully no more then 24 hours. The applications is up for all those interested in applying. It is located in our forum's Recruitment Center.

To be honest, I think that whilst there will be some people interested in the collective who inhabit Pojoland, they will probably come to the collective through other means. Pojo team players seem to be, on the whole, interested in:
a- their team
b- slagging off other teams.

However, wait until we have a few tourneys under out belt, and then see what sort of reaction we get.

True enough. Though my recent explorations of Pojo have revealed to me a few things. One of those is that the members of Pojo tend to think the site is the greatest compared to any other site out there. But sadly (or maybe not so sadly), when they say "any other site out there", they're talking about a DMComet or some other places like YGOParadise. Few of them even know CoG even exists. Now I'm not ragging on the other places, but I am insinuating that we're a great place with things to offer that the other places don't. We fill a void, and I don't think enough people know of us or think we're that significant. I guess what I'm trying to say, is some Pojoers don't get out much, so they don't know what else is out there that's worthwhile.

Indeed. I used to be one of them a while back, but even then, I knew that there was something else out there. Then I got chatting with John Danker who told me about this site, and I've been here ever since.
Likewise, I have mentioned the site in person to other likeminded people, who are interested in something more mature and thoughtful.
From what I gather, CoG seems to be more direct word of mouth more than any other reason.
