CP01-EN001 Satillite Cannon

I'll now do the most rare and "collector's value" among the Champion Pack. And this card is another popular card that the collectors and machine fans (Like me) wanted to get for AGES, until now, we GOT IT. (Hard as crap to get though, since it's Ultra Rare)

And oh yeah, I said the most rare as collector's value. The most rare among the Champion Pack that competitive players want is the Super Rare Sakuretsu Armor, since they like to have a shiny Hollow Saku.

Let's see it's effect.

This card cannot be destroyed by battle with a Level 7 or lower monster. During each of your End Phases, this card gains 1000 ATK. If this card attacks, its ATK is returned to 0, after damage calculation.

Okay, the stat. It's a level 5 monster that's 0 ATK and DEF... another words, stat wise, it's the worst card ever. :p (I mean, a tribute monster that have 0 ATK and defense...) But now, this won't be so popular if it wasn't for it's effect. It's all about the effect.

#1: This card cannot be destroyed by level 7 or power monster. Basically, it's a Spirit Reaper. Pretty darn invincible by battle. (And unlike Reaper, it still lives when targetted by an effect) It's a rare case that you'll play against a deck that runs a level 8 monster that can kill it. So that effect covers up with 0ATK/DEF. But then you say, "We got Reaper man, and we don't have to tribute summon him". Yeah, true, but there are ways around it.

#2: At the end phase of your turn, this card gains 1000ATK.

So by this, it's a monster that cannot be destroys as a result of battle. (In most cases) that gets stronger EACH TURN. So say you stalled with this "reaper wall" for 3 turns, and now it's a 3000ATK beatstick that cannot be destroyed as a result of battle... yeah, it's good.

But there's of course more then this. I mean, this IS a machine monster. And geesh, what's the BEST MACHINE SUPPORT ever that's actually 1 per deck cause of OTK brokeness. ZOMG, it's LIMITER REMOVAL. Stall 4 turns to make Sat Cannon into 4000ATK, throw Limiter and that's 8000ATK for GAME.

But then you say, it's a tribute monster and I have to freaking stall. And it only gains ATK when face-up so you have to tribute summon this in face-up ATK position, and then take a couple attacks, THEN next turn I switch it to Face-up DEF. But of course, there's ways around it.

In fact, there's ALOT of ways to bypass the tribute summon. There's the traditional of Premature/CotH. And the fact that it's a Light monster that's 0ATK means you can search it with Shining Angel and Last Will and even Damage Condenser. Shining Angel will pull it in ATK position, but that won't matter if you summon it last after all the foe's monster attacked, and Last Will, you can always summon it on DEF. Not just that, there's also a forgotten card that can actually WORK with this, Machine Duplication. You can only select a Machine Monster that's 500ATK or less, and pretty much lets to summon 2x more of the same name. (i.e. instant 3x of the same name monsters on the field) Well, since this monster starts with 0ATK, you CAN use Machine Duplication. (Just do it before it gains 1000ATK) In fact, it's either this monter or Heavy Mech Support Platform is the best pull of Machine Duplication. (Unless you got Ancient Gear decks) And I definately say this is a far better choice. With machine Duplication, you can get all 3x out at once, and then stall 3 turns and you got 3x 3000ATK beatstick on your field. Throw in Limiter and it becomes scary and sick.

And not just Limiter and whatnot, since it's a machine, it CAN be a food for Future Fusion/Overload Fusion. You can use Future Fusion to dump 1x, and then Premature Burial that monster out. And when your 3x Satillite Cannon failed and they're all in the grave, it's either Pot of Avarice or Overload Fusion food.



Overall I give this card a

7 out of 10

Can't give it too much high cred when there's only 1x Last Will. (man... 3x Last Will... this card would have been AWESOME!) And I'm trying not to be too biased cause I'm a machine fan. Staple? No. Splashable? Heck no. It needs a dedicated deck. Fun card? Yes sir! I just hope there's other ways to get this card OTHER then just Championship packs in the future. (Seriously, I'm a machine fan so I want 3x)
 
Excellent review; I don't think I'll hold my breath waiting to get a copy but my real question is how long before this is on the banned list?
 
That's Satellite Cannon summarised right there, good job! ;) Just don't forget about the good old Treeborn Frog depending on what else in ran in the dedicated deck :)

I really, really, really, doubt this will ever be limited or banned ever, unless it made a huge impact on the metagame, which it hasn't done yet. It's not the most consistent or "unfair" OTK, therefore there is no reason for it to possess a restriction.
 
All it needs is a Skill Drain to ruin its day...

And don't forget to add Labyrinth of Nightmare to save your LP.
 
Yep, you still take Battle Damage from battles involving it. If it was at 1000 ATK, and it was attacked by Vorse Raider, you'd take 900 damage. Satellite Cannon would just not be destroyed by that battle.
 
i could see this being used in some light type decks but i dont?...shining angel makes this a free stall....this monster can be searched out and then switched to defense when your turn comes....while stalling its attack is constantly being boosted.....they basically have to waste removal on this card for fear of it gaining too much attack....there are always ways of stopping the opponent from getting an attack on it too, enemy controller anyone?? but this card is a good card all in all
6/10 for advanced normal decks
8/10 for advanced light type/fairy decks
1/10 for traditional/definitly not worth playing there and chaos would destroy this
