Crass Clown Vs Final Attack Orders

I know I ask a lot of questions... but I do a lot of research every day.

Ok, so let's say Final Attack Orders is on the field. I have a set Crass Clown on my side of the field. My opponent attacks the monster, and he is switched into attack position before damage calculation. Does the effect resolve before the attack goes through? Can I return the monster that is attacking? Or would I have to wait for the attack to finish first before I can use the effect?

I just can't figure it out.
It's a trigger effect, and it activates at the same time a flip effect activates, so I could assume that the effect resolves after it is destroyed.

But it's not a flip effect, and so I can't really say that it works the same way...

After it's destroyed?

It activates when its position is changed. In this case, it would activate at the same time as a FLIP effect.

If an effect is triggered in the Damage Step (which doesn't modify ATK/DEF), that effect will resolve after the monster is considered destroyed, but before the card itself is sent to the Graveyard (or when specifically otherwise stated). It's like how you can't select Penguin Soldier with its own effect when it's attacked.

In your situation, the attack goes through, Crass Clown is destroyed (or not), and at the end of the battle Crass Clown returns a monster to its owner's hand. But the battle still occurs normally and properly.

Thank you very much, that was exactly what I was looking for.
