Cyber Jar

Hello all, I have a couple of quick questions.

First I was wondering as I have been having near arguments with a friend over this, when cyber jar is flip summoned manually or throuigh say the activation of Swords of Revealing Light can Torrential Tribute be activated in response to the monsters being summoned?

Also can Torrential Tribute be used against cyber jar due to it being flipped as a result of battle?

Now last question, heres the situation:

Player A Summons monster (say Gemini Elf) and activates Mage Power on her.

Player B plays Snatch Steal.

Now my question is Gemini Elf has the power bonus of Mage Power, however does the bonus that is added come from the cards on the field of original owner or the one who is playing Snatch Steal?

Thank you in advance

Yes, you can respond with "Torrential Tribute".

No, because "Torrential Tribute" cannot be activated in the damage step.

The bonus from "Mage Power" comes from the player who controls the "Mage Power".

Cyber Jar flipped face-up from Swords would make all eligible monsters summoned to the field legal targets for Torrential Tribute.  You cannot activate Torrential in the Damage Step portion of the Battle Phase.

Mage Power will only increase for Spell Cards on Controllers side of the field since you control the monster that is equipped with it.

Right, but when Cyber is flipped face up his effect activates and the monsters that are summoned through his effect are eligible targets for Torrential.

Yeah. Cyber Jar get his effect whether he is flip summoned or flipped face-up from an effect, like "Book of Taiyou". Just not Ceasefire or Spell Absorbing Life.

Um... "Ceasefire" and "The Spell Absorbing Life" specifically say "Flip effects are not activated".

I need a little clarification on this subject. If cyber jar is attacked and its effect plays out, why can you not activate Torrential Tribute when the last monster is summoned?

I see it as player A attacks player B's face down cyber jar, cyber jar's effect comes into play stating to destroy all monsters on the field, including cyber jar. This to me states that the damage calculation is over with and the cards are drawn and all monsters four stars and under are summoned to the field, could you not activate Torrential Tribute to the summoned monsters, not necessarily to the effect of cyber jar?

The effect resolves during the damage step, and so you can not activate "Torrential Tribute".

I'll find Kevin's breakdown of the damage step, and post it here so that you can understand it better.

Here is the break down of the damage step:

Here is the part I wish to quote:

[5] Resolve effects

>> From this point forward, monsters are considered
"destroyed". So monsters destroyed by "Dark Ruler Ha Des" cannot activate
their effects, destroyed monsters are not eligible for selection by card
effects such as "Hane Hane", etc.

>> Activate unresolved card effects now that do not activate
when a monster is sent to the Graveyard. Examples: all Flip Effects
, "D. D.
Warrior Lady", "Wall of Illusion", and the effects of "Slate Warrior" and
"Royal Keeper" that increase their ATK and DEF. These effects form a chain
and then resolve.

So as you can see, flip effects do indeed resolve in the damage step.

let me put it in simpler terms. Flip effect are applied in the damage step, spell speed 2 cards (such as torrential tribute) can not be activated during the damage step unless the modify the attack or defense of 1 or more monsters.

hypothesis/if/guess.....

If after cyber was flipped by attack and effect resolves if no more combat is performed, can Torrential be activated at Main Phase 2 since the last thing to happen was the summoning from Cyber's effect? Same with Bottomless for all "eligible" targets?
