no, you could not. However you could in the circumstance your op. plays bait doll targeting your set Dark Bribe. in that instance your op. would not get to draw and bait doll would not return to the deck.

Sorry Harvey, that is not correct.
First: You can activate Dark Bribe when Protector of the Sanctuary is on the Field, but ONLY during the Draw Phase....I know, not very helpful, but still legal.
Second: If Bait Doll is activated targeting Dark Bribe when Protector of the Sanctuary is on the Field, you would not be able to chain Dark Bribe to negate it, so it would, as stated, be forced to activate by Bait Doll. At this point, it is an illegal activation, because it cannot "counter" anything, as Bait Doll is in resolution, therefore it is destroyed by Bait Doll. Since Bait Doll was NOT negated and/or destroyed, you certainly would return it to the deck and shuffle.
