Dark Flare Knight DCR-017

Warrior/Fusion/Effect

"Dark Magician" + "Flame Swordsman"

Any damage to the controller of this card from battle involving this monster becomes 0. When this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard as a result of battle, Special Summon 1 "Mirage Knight" from your hand or Deck.

Today we look at one of Dark Magician's fusions. The Dark Flare Knight. Not exactly the most seen fusion concerning the Dark Magician but it still good nonetheless.

One of its strongest points is its effects. First of all, there's no overflow of damage. That means your opponent's monsters could be powered up until they're green in the face with you on you're last life point and this guy still won't cost you the duel if you attack them with it.

In fact you're gonna be wanting the opponent to take it out in a battle. That's when its second effect kicks off. You get special summon a Mirage Knight. People may not like the fact that it only has 2200 ATK but that makes this effect that much easier to pull off. With all the 2400/2500 ATK'ers running around, you want the opponent taking it out in battle rather than use a spell or trap to take it out. And this effect is not stopped by Skill Drain since it activiates in the graveyard.

It fairly easy to get out with Magical Scientist. Though a variation of the Dark Magician, this guy would probably get more use out of the deck made for the Mirage Knight.

Special summoning this guy properly is a hassle since one of the pieces is a fusion istelf. And if you're using Dark Magician you'll probably be aiming at another fusion.

The end result is aiming at a guy that only stays on the field for one turn after he has been in battle. Even with book of the moon, it'll only last one more turn.

Sure you can use Dark Flare Knight only for its first effect but with only 2200 ATK your opponent won't minding taking it out in battle if you're not using Mirage Knight. And if you're not using Dark Flare to get out Mirage than you rather as well be using another fusion.

Meh, its okay. For me its more eyecandy than anything else. The artwork is great.

I think there was a card on the Japanesse show that says that when hes destroyed you can automatically summon a Flame Swordsman, not sure though.

i believe this is blue flame swordsman's effect as translated by Edo:

BLUE FLAME SWORDSMAN
Fire/Warrior/4/1800/1600?
{When this card is destroyed (as a result of Battle?), you can Special Summon 1 [Flame Swordsman] from your {hand? deck? Cemetery? Fusion Deck?}. This card can give its attack strength to another Monster on the Field. You can use this effect during an opponent's turn.}

With an effect like that why would you want the regular Flame Swordsman?

I think it means you can special summon it from the fusion deck since its a fusion monster even though the card color seen in the english anime was yellow at times instead of purple.

The second effect sounds kind of broken. Is it a permanent increase or a temporary one like Infernalqueen archfiend? When specifically can it occur?

DFK is preaty tight when you need to combo in some chaos.

summon it so you dont get damage then during phase 2 remove it and a light to bring out some chaos and use the chaos effects.

thats the best thing you can do :D
