Welcome to a new and different kind of week here. This week we're going to look at everything you can do with "Dark Magician" and to start, we're going to look at the card itself. While it may not be a staple card these days, "Dark Magician" still is one of the signature cards of the game. Being 2 tributes isn't great, but at 2500 ATK, he at least exceeds the "Jinzo" line and can do well against most monsters. He's a Normal Monster so he needs support from other cards to truly be functional However, as the week goes on, you will get to see all the varied things you can do with him and how such a simple card stat-wise has many options to build around.

All Dark Magician arts are cool !
Besides, there are lots and lots of cards to summon him wherever he is, and he can hit really hard with Diffusion Wave Motion. It's really a good card to build a deck.

Whee I use two of this dear chap in my deck, though he serves 3 purposes before I use him for attacking

Clearing S/Ts with Dark Magic Attack
Helping to summon Sorcerer of Dark Magic
Being fusion bait for Dark Paladin

Only if the above 3 are done/not able to be done then I use him for brute strength and as miiaah said, Diffusion Wave Motion.


Plain and simple though, he's a classic

ah... Ye Olde Dark Magician. I used to run him and Dark Paladin, you know the works, at one point, but later i changed my mind and switched to Amazonesses... but in truth, he is a really great card, since there is so much built around him, especially the japanese only Dimension Magic, possibly one of the best spellcaster themed cards in the game (not possibly, actually it is).

The venerable Dark Magician. The card so many people, including myself, love for some reason (a quick glance at my avatar is in order)

One of the "Big three" monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh! land. He stands alongside the Blue-Eyes White Dragon and the Red-Eyes B. Dragon on the podium of over-supported and often-printed cards. Only Blue-Eyes has been printed more times than Dark Magician in North America.

Dark Magician has been around since TCG day 1. SDY-006 as well as LOB-005. Easy to get, but poorly supported at the onset. Players undoubtedly took a look at the 2 tribute Dark Magician and then the 1 tribute Summoned Skull that posessed the same attack power and immediately ran out for a second Starter Deck Yugi

But, a lot of time has passed since then ... and I'm confident that the remaining COTD reviews for this week will take a look at what things have changed in this monster's favor. He's still quite weak for a Level 7 monster, but brute strength isn't everything in this game.

There are only 2 cards I own that live in a special display case. One of them is an LOB Dark Magician.

Dark Magician has been and always will be my favorite card ever since the game came out.

He is ok, but only because of all the support. Lets face it, without the support cards he isnt that much better than [ycard="MRD-EN125]Garnecia Elefantis[/ycard]...

That said, as a beast-warrior, old elephant face actually does have some support. Just nowhere near as much as [ycard="BPT-001]Dark Magician[/ycard].

HAHA..just wait till the spellcaster deck arrives here in the u.s....[ycard="BPT-001]Dark Magician[/ycard] will be even more uber than he already was when it gets here..

Surley [ycard="MP1-002]Cosmo Queen[/ycard] is better... Than Garnecia. anyway he is a good card but I prefer dragon's he has nothing on Blue-Eyes.
