What exactly does it change? I see people in real life use it to change monsters to insect, but then in the new game a computer used it to change monsters to water..

Can it be either? Or just the machine / pyro etc types? I know the games are often bad to look at for ruling, but this seems like a pretty big mess-up if you can't use the card that way.

DNA Surgery
Continuous Trap

When you activate this card, declare 1 Type of monster. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, all face-up monsters become the Type you declared.


Type is Warrior, Insect, etc.


DNA Transplant
Continuous Trap

Declare 1 Attribute when you activate this card. While this card is face-up on the field, the Attribute of all face-up monsters on the field becomes the one you declared.

Attribute is Earth, Water, etc.

You might be confusing DNA Surgery and DNA Transplant. Surgery changes Type (Machine, Warrior, Fiend, Winged Beast, Beast, Beast-Warrior, Zombie, Fairy, Sea Serpent, Aqua, Fish, Reptile, Spellcaster, Plant, Pyro, Dragon, Dinosaur, Rock, and Thunder) while Transplant changes Attribute (WATER, FIRE, EARTH, WIND, LIGHT, DARK).

:edit: And DLoC is quicker to the punch.
