Okay... This is most assuredly the longest it's taken for Walmart to unleash the latest set upon the masses. While I havent checked them all (hey, gas IS still over 2.00/gl), I have not seen them at the ones I have checked, which is unusual to say the least.

Besides Hobby Shops (and eBay, or for that fact, the "Internet"), does anyone else have EEN available for purchase??

I haven't been there in a few days, but last I checked there was no EEN at the Butler, PA Wal-Mart. But the local hobby shop has had them in for over a week. Usually, it's the other way around. Go figure.

I'm thinking this is a sign of the times and we may see this happen more often.

It's just highly unusual to not see Walmart flowing from top to bottom shelves with new sets. It's also unusually strange to see shelves packed with Tin after Tin of the 2005 versions, even short print Gilford is still there.

That's odd, most Wal-Marts get it weeks before the preview (which has been a common practice with UDE, bad UDE). Surprisingly enough our hobby store had it the very same week as the sneak preview from their supplier. I asked about how they recieved the YGO product so quickly but still hadn't had JLA for VS and they said that UDE was shipping out early to try and help the stores cash in on the holiday season.

So yeah, I'm surprised they wouldn't have it by now to be honest.

Gas IS under $2.00 a gallon!!! Here, at least

(Throwing celebration for gas prices)

Anyways, EEN isn't around here except for hobby shops either.

Man... I just really dont feel like driving an hour one direction or and hour and a half in the other just to get some packs of EEN. It would be different if it were a tournament or something, but I know that most of the players I compete against live near either store, so by now, there probably isnt much stock left. That's why I live for Walmart!! lol

That's what I saw here too....that being, the local hobby store had it by the end of the same week as the Sneak Peak and the big retailers have yet to put a box on the shelf....JUST as it SHOULD be.

I understand your additude towards the Retailers vs Hobby Stores, but I disagree based on the principle that I just mentioned in my earlier post. Not many people have the resources to trek to the different locations where they might be able to puchase the latest sets. Hobby Stores already have had the advantage over Retail Packs with 000 Secret Rares, and the latest advantage of Ultimate Rares of Super Rares vs Ultimate Rare's of Rare for Retail Packs.

Now you further separate disadvantaged players by possibly making them wait for a whole month in order to gain better options in purchasing cards.

The Main reason Hobby Store's aren't profiting as well as their Retail Counterparts is based solely on their ability to market themselves.

How many of us can drive in one direction and blindly find a Walmart, Blockbuster Video, McDonalds, etc... usually within 5-10 miles from their home location.

Most Hobby Stores are found by word of mouth or extensive searching or calls placed using the phone directory. Then, most of them are in such out of the way places that they are not even that easy too find when you do get to the area.

I sympathize with Hobby Store Owners, but I really dont think that they should be allowed to dictate distribution. That would make them a Mini-Monopoly.

If you only have 2 Hobby Stores from which to purchase cards from, yet 10 Walmarts and 3 Targets, withing a 50 mile radius, that's a Monopoly considering your "forced" to purchase from them if you want them at all, based upon some bizarre rationale that Hobby Stores lose money if Retailers sell cards as well.

Considering that most Hobby Store Owners are working with a lower budget, would that not also mean that they would run the risk of running out of Product "faster" than a Walmart? I know I used to purchase Boxes from my local Store when I only lived 5 minutes away, and that most times, that wouldnt leave much product of the new set for anyone else.

Should I not buy a box if that handicaps his ability to meet his customers demands?

There is enough slices of pie for everyone to get a taste. Hobby Stores need to stop living in Dark Ages and put themselves on the map a little better if they expect to be competitive.

Instead of being part of the problem with getting new product, they need to come up with a better solution.

I don't live in the US so I know my oppinion on this and my knowledge of the situation are rather insignificant but as long as the stores all stick to the release dates given by UDE I don't see a problem with Hobby stores having to compete with retail chains. Hobby stores will have their loyal customers and the retail chains will have theirs, it's when the retail chains sell the stock early that there's a problem as this effectively punishes those who adhere to the release dates given by UDE.

Word. It's like making guns illegal. People who follow the law can't defend themselves, and criminals have an advantage. Better to just give the stores cards WHEN they're going to be released. Make the word "release" a lot more literal.

Guns ARE illegal in the countries where daivahataka and myself live, so what you say doesn't make any sense here ;)

As for EEN: They still don't sell it here, but they don't sell Structure Deck Warrior also... I guess it will be released here in 1 or 2 weeks.

Either you completely missed my point, or I missed yours. My point was that outlawig guns is like giviing stores cards, and then saying they can't sell them until a certain date: THose who follow the rules get left in the dust. Whether those policies have been implemented or not, they're still wrong.

Hmmm: wasnt it Gordon Gecko (Wall Street)who said
Greed, for want of a better word, is good.

By this argument, anything that you can do, including breaking laws and agreements to benefit oneself/ones company, is a good thing. This leads to anarchy- if I feel agrieved at something, why shouldnt I go postal on whoever or whatever I feel to be Appropriate. Personally I disagree with this concept.

The thing is, corporations can usually get away with it a lot more than the 'mom and pop' stores, which is what most independant retailers effectively are. What is needed is some government agency to be able to effectively penalise any retailer who breaks such agreements. Even Enron and BCCI fell.

The problem is, the people who make the rules are no better than most Parents.

Mother: "If you dont clean up your room, you aren't going outside and that's final!!"

2 hours later and no clean room.

Child: "Mom, can I go outside?"

Mother: "Sure, be home by 6!!"

The rule here was, Clean your room, you can go outside. Did the child follow the rule? No. Did the parent enforce the rule? No. So, what did the child learn about rules? That they are rarely, if ever, enforced and that there is no punishment when rules are broken.

We have several rules in UDE, witnessed by our Banned List (Players Banned List, not cards), that are enforced.

We have several "implied rules" that are ignored or enforced in negative ways.

Card Release dates are an example of such. UDE gives us a set release date. It also tells shop owners that they can further restrict players from using new sets, BUT, in the same move, tell them that they are the only place Players can use the new sets until the 1st of the next month.

So what do most Store Owners do? Make new sets illegal until the 1st of the next month. Talk about useless policy....

I would have no problem, and have stated this in previous threads, if they just went back to the old way of doing things; and that being, make all new sets illegal until the 1st of the new month. That way, everyone is on the same sheet of music, and if UDE says Shadow of Infinity is going to be released in Mar of '06 and it gets released in Dec '05, then it's just illiegal to use until April '06 and EVERYONE is still in line with the way it should be, even though the set got released way ahead of schedule.

There is too much "wiggle room" when it comes to how we get new product now. If UDE/Konami is trying something new with Elemental Energy, well, they really picked a wrong time for me since this is probably the more anticipated set in my opinion than Cybernetic Revolution.

The warrior deck has just been released here in Ireland so you should have it by the end of the coming week I imagine, as to EEN: my supplier in the UK has told me that the release date is the 28th of November so we'll have to wait a while yet...
*Apologies for going slightly off the thread topic but just passing on some info.*

Okay... Apparently I wasnt the only one anticipating Elemental Energy's release. I went to Walmart JUST YESTERDAY and there was at least 40-50 Packs out. I was nice, I only bought 10 (curse me for being nice...).

Got a few Holo's, but the prize of the day was Elemental Hero Shining Flare Wingman!!!

Well, I figured I'd try my luck again today. Word of advice. Nice guys finish last...

EVERY SINGLE PACK BUT "1" was sold out!!!!!! I immediately drove to the next local Walmart. None... Well, I dont even now if they had any in the first place. Target was right across the street. Went there. None.

Even on eBay the boxes are averaging 70 bucks easy, so this set is definitely "En Fuego!!!!"
