EOJ-JP056
Elemental Absorber
Trap - Continuous
Remove a monster card from your hand from the game. All opponent's monsters with the same main-type as that card, as long as this card is on the field, cannot declare attack.
Rare

This card will came in the next booster, it look quite simple, if you discard a Marauding Captain then Earth Monsters won't be able to attack.

But what would happen if you discard Elemental Mistress Doriado? Will this card create a lock by it self when combined with Elemental Mistress Doriado?

Still, I think I'll make an Elixerer deck for the heck of it. Call it either the "Captain Planet" deck or the "Power Ranger Deck" (wait wouldn't that be the VWXYZ deck I have?)

VtoZ is more of a Transformers: Robots in Disguise Deck than Captain Planet. Elemental Hero Elixir is the true Captain Planet of Yu-Gi-Oh!, then again Syrus as of the latest GX episode in Japan has a true Transformers Deck.

*steps in front of firing squad*

I have to say, I remember the confusion originally caused by trying to figure out the reasons behind treating Doriado as an effect AND a condition. It was originally 'thought' to only make sense as a field effect. Only after a lot of discussion and acceptance, was the Condition part of Doriado accepted.

Whether it makes the Ritual more useless than before is irrelevant, in my eyes. The way I feel, now the text effect makes more sense to anyone reading the card, without having to know yet another obscure ruling on an obscure card.

Im glad they changed the ruling.

*closes eyes and waits to be shot*

1st shot... lol

It's not irrelevant that its useless, its very relevant that the ruling PROVES that its useless, and the text makes it even that much more clear.

So what if you can use it while it's on the field as a Tribute for one of the 4 attributes. You had to more than likely tribute a decent monster, as well as have at least "2" Ritual Spell Cards to have more than a "shot in the dark" chance of summoning her. She was better off in the Graveyard when her effect was under the old ruling.

So now you dedicate at least 4 cards to bring out "1" card, that has the effect of being a 4 attribute monster, to "maybe" trigger a now even more situational card Fuh-Rin-Ka-Zan (and how many of those do you put in for a chance to use it???).

*flinches and staggers...luckily woo0 has horrible aim :p*

Yes the ruling proves its useless.

BUT, its consistent! Imagine not having ever seen Doriado before. You see the card, read the text and say..."ok, its an effect that lasts while its on the field, sure."

then someone comes up to you and says "yeah, but that is only because they changed the ruling, whereas it used to be better because its effect was also a condition, which I knew about because I frequent online forums and errata pages, which are very thorough, helpful and obscure."

And you turn around and go....."HUH?"

Sure the ruling change just made Doriado sad, and a guaranteed dust collector for many. But it makes so much more sense, when you read the templating of the text.

Consistency > power

*prepares to die at hands of woo0, and angry mob*

If anything, it gives us hope that they "might" start being proactive in cleaning up some of these loose end type rulings that we have, instead of being reactive to new cards that come out, causing everyone to cry foul.

I mean, just imagine if all of a sudden "Weather Report" became the next HOT TECH and then a new ruling came out because of a new card, to say that if it were summoned on the last of Swords of Revealing Light's turn, you wouldnt get Weather Report's effect.

Im sure that would suck. But right now, no one really uses it, so it would just be a low rumble that would mostly go without notice.
