Fairy's Hand Mirror

If I have a monster equipped with an Axe of Despair, is it legal for the opponent to activate Fairy's Hand Mirror to switch the effect of Axe to his monster, and if so, how long does it last?

Not sure how FHM interacts with spell cards that remain on the field.

it is legal but only when you activate it if you activated and later on the game he activates it he cannnot do it but if you activate it and he activates it he can change the target to another correct one and the equip will remain on the field equipped to the monster he chose.

Thanks, I should have been more specific - The Axe had already been on the monster for a couple of turns.

I suspected that was the case, that you could only do it upon the activation, but just wanted to make sure.

if it's already equipped, tailor of fickle and collected power can do the trick

fairy hand mirror cannot affect spell cards already on the field
