Gravekeeper's Spy/Gravekeeper's Guard PGD-EN059/PGD-EN061

Gravekeeper's Guard
Effect Monster (Spellcaster / DARK / 4 Stars / ATK 1000 / DEF 1900)

FLIP: Return 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field to its owner's hand.

Gravekeeper's Spy
Effect Monster (Spellcaster / DARK / 4 Stars / ATK 1200 / DEF 2000)

FLIP: Special Summon 1 Monster Card that includes "Gravekeeper's" in its card name with an ATK of 1500 or less from your Deck.

"¢ You can select a Gravekeeper whose ATK would be higher than 1500 after being Summoned. For example, if "Necrovalley" is in play, you can use "Gravekeeper's Spy" to Special Summon another "Gravekeeper's Spy", even though its ATK will be 1700 once it is on the field.

These 2 cards have gotten new popularity outside of Gravekeeper decks due to Max Suffridge's use of them in his US National winning deck. The main pros for these 2 are:
a) Dark
b) Swarm
c) Field Control
d) Stall
e) Tsukuyomi abuse

These two can greatly slow down a normal Chaos deck, as few of their monsters go over 1900 ATK, except for Jinzo, BLS-EotB, Blade Knight, etc.

Overall, I give these 2 cards a 4/5 in a non-Gravekeeper deck.

And yes, I am making up for reviews I didn't get a chance to post yet.

I have to say I find this a little sickening. These cards have been around since the days of PGD and it takes one duelist to slap them into a Chaos deck and overnight they have started to become staples simply because a duelist tried something different and it worked. All I can say is if anyone suggests that they are being original because they stuck those cards in are complete liars.

Back on topic, both cards are very good deck thinners, but I find they would work the best in a Gravekeepers Deck which is what they were intended for. It was a nice idea to stick them in a Chaos Deck, but I don't think everyone else should.

I agree with that. however there are a few ways that Gravekeepers can be mixed to create some interesting decks. I once had a mix of Gravekeepers and zombies that worked so well my first tournament win was with it (way back in DCR)

The Spy is, IMO, the best of the lot as it allows you to pull every other monster except the Chief. The 2000 Def makes it a solid defender too. Most face down sets are either powerful effects (aka Jars and MoF) or simply high def stats. Spy combines some good of both worlds.

However, I do love purity. GKs are one of the fastest, deadliest, fun and underused deck types ever. Thats good. Not everyone likes an SUV, after all.
