Alright well I have to say I love the new format and I have already seen a FLOOD of decks that can hold their own in this new format. These decks include various and creative burn decks, mainstream beatdown decks of many different varieties, and of course some very unique decks including a (somewhat) working Ectoplasmer deck and a Convulsion of Nature deck. Very much looking forward to judging my next regionals to see what prevails.
So, before we do a card-by-card breakdown lets go over the changes to the ban list and what they mean. First we start with the trinity (Pot of Greed, Graceful Charity, and Delinquent Duo); the trinity being banned means several things, the first thing it means is that the game is less luck based and more skill based. One is less likely due to win or lose due to a stroke or good/bad luck. Perhaps the most influential of these three cards is Graceful Charity. Why? Graceful Charity was not just a stand-alone powerhouse staple but also had a lot of combos with other cards. The most important point regarding Graceful Charity is that you could add a few bad top decks to you decks and if you didn't need them you could always get different cards with Graceful Charity; with it gone one must add more cards to their deck that are versatile and less cards that can be bad top decks.
Black Luster Soldier "“ Envoy of the Beginning is now banned. This means that Chaos is out; this is huge. With chaos out the meta is once again open to almost any kind of deck imaginable. With chaos out as the must-run deck for decks that attack one must consider that alternatives are defiantly competitive. Zombies are once again powerful as x2-x3 Vampire Lord, x2-x3 Spirit Reaper, x3 Pyramid Turtle and x2 Book of Life can make a welcome addition to many decks. Phoenix is now considered the easiest high level monster to bring out which, with Metamorphosis still allowed in a deck (even one per), means a lot. Beasts are defiantly possible though I doubt it will be all that popular and with the magician structure deck that's coming out people may run spellcasters as well.
Scapegoat is now limited to one per deck and sinister is banned. This means that the pace at which a duel goes is now much faster one can now get a solid hand advantage and not worry about losing it to someone who is stalling and building their hand size. If your opponent only has one monster and can't seem to draw another you can't just set sinister every turn anymore, you have to lose a card in battle in order to protect your life points. Someone can build a deck in which that someone can use up a lot of resources to get out 3+ monsters in a turn without being so worried about Scapegoat.
Book of Taiyou (book of the sun) is limited to one per deck. There are plenty of substitute cards for Book of Taiyou such as Desert Sunlight and Acid Trap Hole. There is not, however, a substitute that can be played the same turn you draw it (as all existing substitutes are trap cards and Makyora is still banned). All these facts combined mean two things; the Card Destruction/Serial Spell FTK deck is dead and Mill decks are slower then they used to be.
Book of Moon and Tsukuyomi are now limited to one per deck. The synergy around deck with flip monsters is gone. The likelihood of having a Book of Moon ready to chain to a Snatch Steal, Sakuretsu Armor, or Bottomless Trap Hole is also less then it used to.
Mirror Force is gone; this means two things. The first is the impact it will have on how people play the game; people will no longer put monsters in defense in fear of Mirror Force. The second thing it means is people will start running a whole bunch of Sakuretsu Armors/Bottomless Trap Holes like when Mirror Force was banned the first time. This makes the average amount of traps in a deck fairly large which, in turn, affects the meta as a whole in a very profound way.
All that leaves us with Ring of Destruction banned, Tribe-Infecting Virus banned, Night Assailant limited, Limiter Removal limited, Thousand-Eyes Restrict limited, Metamorphosis limited, Nobleman of Crossout (apostle of genocide) limited, Confiscation unbanned (1 per deck), and Dark Hole unbanned (1 per deck). I personally did not find these changes had a large enough impact to give each of them their own paragraph; they will each get their own sentence.
Ring of Destruction being banned means that someone can't end the game simply by using Ring of Destruction which, in turn, means that having low life points is no longer as dangerous as it used to be. Tribe-Infecting Virus's banning only means attribute based decks are a slightly more viable option. Night Assailant's banning doesn't really make much of a difference because Graceful was also banned; Night Assailant being limited, along with sinister being banned, means that cards that require a discard as a cost cost "more". Limiter Removal being limited just gets rid of the Cyber Stein OTK deck. Nobleman of Crossout being limited means that people can set monsters with more confidence; I can garentee players will start setting Sangan again. Confiscation is unbanned, the possibility your opponent could topdeck Confiscation forces someone to either take that risk or to play at a slightly faster pace because saving that one card for when your in a jam may be your downfall. Dark Hole being banned simply means that instead of having to many face up monsters on your side of the field being too dangerous having too many monsters on your side of the field period is dangerous; Dark Hole is also probably the reason they unbanned Confiscation.

Now we move on to the overall changes in the meta, what cards are no longer good, and what card are now/again good.

wow...thats awesomeness....man...all those wasted times i could have saved it and i didnt even know it...
