GX Trends? (note, many spoilers)

Am I the only one who's noticed that GX follows a number of patterns from season to season? Let's think here for a second. Season 1, there's tons of mention of darkness, shadows and a fair amount of stuff with Shadow Games. Season 2, the forces of light are the great evil, and there's a ton of different plotlines going on. Season 3, we're back to dark stuff being the main evil, and Season 4, the on-off switch appears to have been toggled again, so we're back to light being evil and a lot of various subplots going on all at once. And the light-dark thing isn't the only alternating theme. In both Seasons 1 and 3, there's the threat of the Sacred Beasts halfway through. A plethora of new characters crop up instead of just one at a time over a few episodes. There's travel to that desert dimension. Evil card spirits come forth. We start out started on one thing, and we do a complete turn-around and focus on something else. And in Seasons 2 and 4, tons of bizarre stuff happens with little explanation. There's little set-up and we cut right to the action. Aster Phoenix and Sartorius are relevant characters in the long-run.
Alternation isn't the only thing too. Seasons 1 and 2 were all about an evil organization, and had an occasional cameo from the old series. Seasons 3 and 4 ultimately all revolve around some key card connected with Jaden Yuki, regardless of how long it takes for the main characters to pick up on it. Given all of these trends, what exactly are we going to see in the future? Is GX going to continue to follow these patterns, or are we ever going to something different in the future while it still runs?

Sounds to me like the typical balance they try to create in anime based on card games. That's their idea of "mixing it up". Didn't we see a similar pattern in Card Captors and Pokemon?

actually card captors first revolved around catching cards then around changing them into cards that got their powers from sakura and not clow reed. Theres no real mixing up the storyline at all. Its a logical follow on from where they left off.

As for pokemon after the amount of different series they have out now I think its safe to say its just a money making gimmick and the creators should be rounded up put into rockets and fired towards the sun. BTW thats a much less grisly fate than id like for them but this is a family forum.

Umm, neither Pokémon nor Card Captors are primarily card games. The former is primarily a computer game, with a card game variant (and which the anime is completely separate from), and Card Captors (or more correctly Cardcaptor Sakura) is about a girl searching for lost magical cards (and is in no way whatsoever a game, however you look at it).

I know that Season 1 of GX comprises Jaden's first year at the Duel Academy, much like the Harry Potter books. Does this trend continue? In which case, there are only a limited number of years to turn into completely stupid anime series. I only like them for the card games (and more importantly, the duels that DON'T involve Heroes or any denomination, because I just have a disliking for the Hero themes), because half the time they actually seem to follow the rules (although you can never tell with the made-up cards).

The point is, though (if GX has a point), that you can't just string together a load of random duels into a series and have it be a success. Particularly in anime, if the series is episodic, then there'll be some kind of big plot running in the background, to be revealed halfway through the series and actually only have something done about it in the last few episodes. In that respect, it's similar to Sailor Moon (and to some extent Pokémon, although that's a plot that just keeps on going anyway - encountering and catching 'em all) (and also to some extent Cardcaptor Sakura, although every episode is relevant to the plot (they all feature a card), so it's not a great extent). Perhaps that's what Digital meant.

......ts just a money making gimmick and the creators should be rounded up put into rockets and fired towards the sun. ..........

Ya, but then it would somehow run into the Simpsons, and I dont know if that would be such a successful plot twist... hahaha .. (reference: the episode where the earth is going to be destroyed so they get in that rocket with Krusty, and Rosie, etc)
