How many of you are collectors, but not necessarily players?

I have a pretty good collection of cards but hardly any of them have been put to use for playing (except for the one casual deck I made which I've dueled with, albeit very rarely).

I don't necessarily mind not actually playing the game except in rare cases, of course. I just look at it the same way some people look at bottle cap/coin/stamp collecting.

From what I see, we usually find that players are that, players and not collectors. That's a shame, people in TCGs often shoot themselves in the foot by not enjoying many facets of any TCG. Tournament play, casual play, booster drafts, sealed booster tournaments, collecting, judging, helping others into the game....all different ways to enjoy a TCG. As I've often said I see far too many people that suffer from tournament burnout and complain that the game is getting boring....when you only focus on one facet of a TCG of course it will get boring eventually!

I collect and play casually. I like the multiplayer aspect of the game that i play with my friends. I also judge. I dislike the attitude that some of those tournament players give off.

At first I was more a player (although I still had a very large collection). But lately, I've been playing much less and collecting a lot more.

i began as a player but as most of my friends have stopped playing I have become more of a collector.
