Inferno Fire Blast SOD-042

Inferno Fire Blast; SOD-042

Spell Card

Select 1 face-up "Red-Eyes B. Dragon" on your side of the field to activate this card. Inflict damage to your opponent's Life Points equal to the original ATK of the selected "Red-Eyes B. Dragon". "Red-Eyes B. Dragon" cannot attack during the turn you use this card.

When I got a SOD Display quite some while ago, I wondered whether I would pull a Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 8 or Armed Dragon LV 7 or maybe Mystic Swordsman LV 4. I pulled Inferno Fire Blast   .

It's effect, what to do and what does happen before, while and after using this card, a conclusion.

I. Blasting for Beginners.

Don't know why they just didn't write "inflict 2400 points of effect damage", at least I don't see any possibility to inflict any other amount with this one card.
If you attacked with your REBD on the field, you can't activate this card.
If you use this card on 1 REDB, another REBD on the field would also not be allowed to attack.

II. The Silence Before Blasting.

You have to get one REBD on the field. What, you already knew that? Ok, then...

Use

- tribute summon
- tribute summon with Double Coston
- REBC

or the following possibilities that are actually nothing new (except for that I had never thought of the last one before, it's really clever ;) ), but were posted in replies to one of my other threads in quite the same order as posted here, so I rather give credit to someone else than just post them as my own, oh whatever, I just wanna be nice :D

- Reasoning
- A Hero Emerges
- Tribute Doll
- Gilasaurus
- Stray Lambs
- Strike Ninja - D. D. Scout Plane - combo (yeah yeah, this one I mean)

Ok, you find a way to bring him out.

III. 3, 2, 1, Blast!

REBD does not have to be on field when Inferno Fire Blast resolves, it just has to be there on activation. So destroying the dragon won't do it, just a card that negates and destroys a spell card can be used here, right?
Fear Spell Vanishing (most expensive handcard-wise), Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell, Magic Drain, Magic Jammer, Dark Paladin, Spell Shield Type-8, some more, this post is long enough already :D .

There are some possibilities to negate the activation, but not too many cards of this type in a deck and probably no one on the field at just this one moment. Ok, maybe in the second and third duel of a match...

Or you face one of these:

- Pikeru's Circle of Enchantment
- Barrel Behind the Door
- Attack and Receive
- probably some others :) just can't think of any at the moment...

Add 300 points of damage with Dark Room of Nightmare.

IV. After Blastocide.

As you will have one "useless" REBD on the field after activation (not resolving) of the effect, you do can something else with him (I could also say you MUST do something else with him, he ain't the greatest beatstick of all time, you know...):

- equip him with Metalmorph, special summon a REBMD

*rofl* Ok, let my try again.

- use another Inferno Fire Blast
- summon REDD
- tribute REBD for a 5- or 6-star monster
- Ectoplasmer, to squeeeeeze the last bit of damage out of him

V. To blast or not to blast.

Pro:
- take away at least 30% of your enemy Life Points
- usable especially when you already want to do something else with your REBD (summon REDD etc.), this is an additional bonus then

Con:
- BBtD
- spells can be negated, remember
- you need a REBD

When playing a REBD deck, use it, maybe put in an additional protective card. Have some ideas of what to do with REBD after using Inferno Fire Blast. Quite impressive card then. Junk in other decks, obviously.

Very nice, I saved the whole page for the case that I build a REBD deck some time. Inferno Fire Blast and REBD at maximum effectiveness. That was what I meant!
