Is Victory Dragon Better then Gilford the Lightning

Victory Dragon text:
This card cannot be Special Summoned. To Tribute Summon this card, you must Tribute 3 Dragon-Type monsters. If this card attacks your opponent directly and reduces their Life Points to 0, you win the Match.

Gilford the Lightning Text:
If you Tribute Summon this card by Tributing 3 monsters, destroy all monsters on your opponent's side of the field.

Person i think that any monster that you tribute 3 monster is crazy but both have really good effects if you can pull them off.
I think Victory is just alittle bit better. What you think??
 
Well, don't forget Moisture Creature. Personally, I think it beats both. I mean, if you want to get rid of your opponent's monsters, you can always x3 Vortex, but what do you have for clearing the back field? 1x Heavy. Oh, you can temporarily send them back to the hand with Trunade, but for total destruction....Okay, Mobius can usually take out a couple too. But as long as UDE policy 21 exists for non-turn players, Victory Dragon remains neutered.
 
i personaly think that victory dragon is the best because you can win the match in the first duel unless your oppenents forfeits.
but personaly i think that if you forfeit because your going to loose to victory dragon you should lose the match because thats what was about to happen due to victory dragons efffect.
 
Unfortunately, to Concede the game does not meet the qualifications of Victory Dragon's Special effect. Either way can be argued by the rules lawyers. I still think that UDE should give priority to the turn player as with everything else...that is, only allow you to forfeit on your own turn. But, it is what it is. Unless otherwise stated by UDE (or the head judge wishes to decide otherwise-be ready for a challenge), the official rule is that you can concede the GAME at any time but for you to loose the match, Victory Dragon must successfully attack your opponent's LP directly and reduce it to zero. Since the one happens before the other, you would have to impose a Match Loss Penalty-- Unsportsmanlike Conduct--Cheating, in order to turn it into a match loss. Sorry.

Unsporting Conduct - Cheating merits the most severe penalty of disqualification w/o prize! You would want the HJ to issue an Unsporting Conduct - Major, for which the usual penalty is a match loss. It is highly unlikely that a quality HJ will issue any penalty, since it is legal to concede a game at anytime.

How is this even a comparison??? Tossing two monsters like these together is like asking if Black Luster Soldier - EotB is better than Skull Servant.

Both monsters do not need the same Tribute requirement to be summoned, as Gilford only needs it to activate his effect, otherwise, he is still a 2 Tribute Monster.

Victory Dragon wins you the MATCH!! Gilford may win you the Duel, but that's it.

Gilford can use ANY type monster to perform his summon (for the sake of argument, we'll leave out Tokens, as I dont feel like listing all the ones that can and can't be used), while V. Dragon must either use unmodified Dragons, or monsters changed by effect.

No comparison. Oddball question.
 
But then if someone knows that their opponent has the setup for victory dragon that turn, won't they concede anyways? What if a Victory Dragon win is a sure thing? This would surely have to be taken into consideration, being that conceding to save themselves from victory dragon would be, in some way, cheating.

Yeah, That would be harder to appeal. One could always appeal to say, "it wasn't cheating, it is in the rules." However, we know that it is not the honorable thing to concede the Duel to not loose the Match.

I still like Moisture Creature best--and it's an Angel, too.
 
The thing is, Moisture Creature and Gilford the Lightning have the same ATK, that is, 2800. When Moisture Creature destroys all the opponent's back row, what are the odds they'll have a monster that can top that ATK value?

Gilford, however, gets a chance at a direct attack, but is at just as much risk as usual for being stopped by a lousy Trap.

Victory Dragon is harder to Summon, and is meaningless in casual Duels (unless it's playtesting). The effect can be nice, but not very reliable. Dragons are generally strong enough anyway without resorting to a Match-winning effect too. I'd use Moisture Creature, probably, if I had to use one.

Of course, provided it fits the theme of my Deck.
