Last Will and Bottomless Trap Hole

Tribute Sangan to summon Big Core response chain starts:

Chain Link 1 Sangan
Chain Link 2 Last Will
Chain Link 3 Bottomless Trap Hole
Would they actually form a chain with "BTH"?

Or would it be that "BTH" is the only effect in the summoning response chain because neither "Sangan" nor "Last Will"s effect can interrupt an existing resolving chain.

So wouldn't it be this:

Monster is Tribute Summoned by tributing "Sangan".
Opponent responds with "BTH".
Turn Player, no response.
"BTH" resolves, removing summoned monster.
Then, both mandatory effects become SEGOC with Turn Player choosing the order to resolve.

or...

Does "Last Will"s effect use up the Turn Player's priority because it's mandatory and that's why they all end up in the same chain?

Thanks.

When Sangan is tributed for a tribute summon it will always be in the summon response chain, as its a mandatory trigger and always goes on the first available chain.

Last Will's summon is an optional trigger effect (although it cannot miss its timing as it was already activated and resolved"¦ yes "¦ confusing) and will have to be at a later chain link then the mandatory Sangan.

Since its the summon response chain, that's the correct timing for Bottomless Trap Hole.

Not really, it works pretty much like Tomato etc.

I don't know if the order is fixed in this case. I still believe the Turn Player can choose.

Last Will as well as the elemental searchers are not the conventional Optional Trigger. Their effects are optional, but i don't believe the activation is.

A true Optional Trigger is one in which you choose whether to activate it or not.

I dont believe the same chaining rules rules apply to Last Will and Mystic Tomato etc., as the choice is made at resolution not activation. The triggered activation in this case is mandatory.

I could be wrong though.

Or could it work like this...

Sangan is triubted meeting Last Will's condition both of which begin a new chain after the tribute summon.

Monster is tribute summoned.

A new chain begins automatically and immediately. Last Will does not "activate" but the Sangan's effect does. Bottomless Trap Hole may not chain to Last Will but may chain to the activation of Sangan's effect and does so.

Since Sangan is a mandatory effect it becomes chain link 1
Since Last Will is an optional effect it becomes chain link 2
Bottomless Trap Hole becomes Chain Link 3

Maybe I'm just brain dead after 4 days of judging.

I DID ask this question to a number of judges at GenCon Indy as I thought it was a good thought provoking question. We threw it at Ian and he said he'd have to get back with me the next day. All he said the next day was that BTH could be used in this scenario He didn't expand on the explaination and I was quite busy at the time and didn't have time to ask him for the mechanics of his answer.
