Mirror Force Vs Lord of D. and other targeting protectors

Hmm, please help me with this problem.

My friend have been dueling alot lately since the new rule came out. With the re-introduction to Mirror Force, I have been running into problems with it.

If I have a "Mirror Force" face down, and my friend attacks with a "Blue Eyes White Dragon" with "Lord of D". on the field, he claims that it doesn't work because of Lord of D's effect. But the trap card destroys with a field effect.

So what I want to know is...
Is "Mirror Force" a targeting effect.

Allow me to define what "Targeting" actually means:

When you activate a card effect, some cards require you to select what card on the field or in the grave you wish to use its effect on as you activate the card. For example, if I were to activate Mystical Space Typhoon, I must choose what card I want to destroy before any chained effects are activated, and if my targeted card leaves the field in some way, I cannot reselect a new target for Mystical Space Typhoon and therefore its effect disppears. Sometimes a card requires two or more targets, such as Nobleman-Eater Bug, however the same rules apply.

However, this isn't to be confused with card effects that affect a single card on the field, although usually such cards are targeting; cards such as Smashing Ground, Widespread Ruin and tribe infecting virus are NOT targeting, for the reason that they choose what cards they affect by what's written on them and not by the choice of it's controller. Incedentally such cards also choose their victim cards when they resolve, and not when they activate like a targeting card does.

There aren't hard and fast rules as to exactly what is targeting and what isn't (e.g. Neither Bottomless Trap Hole nor Creature Swap are targeting). Although equip cards of any kind are always targeting effects.

The effect of Mirror Force does not target, because the Controller of Mirror Force does not determine what monsters will be destroyed by Mirror Force's effect.

Only when it resolves, can determine what monsters are left in attack mode, that will be destroyed by Mirror Force's effect.
