Monster Destroyed in Damage Step other than Battle

If a monster is destroyed in Damage Step while participating in battle, what happens during damage calculation?

Example:
Player A has a face up "Gemini Elf" in ATK pos and a set "Rush Recklessly".
Player B has a face up "Spirit Reaper" in DEF pos and a set "Interdimensional Matter Transporter".
Player A attacks "Spirit Reaper" with "Gemini Elf".
Player A does not activate anything during Battle Step because of IMT.
On "Damage Step:sub-step 3: Calculate Damage", Player B activates "Rush Recklessly" and targets "Spirit Reaper" to destroy it.

What would happen on "Damage Step:sub-step 3: Calculate Damage"'s resolution? This will not cause a replay because it is in Damage Step already. Does the Battle halt because the one of the participating monster gets destroyed, or does the "Gemini Elf" get to attack directly?

After thinking it over, I would now say that there is no replay since the attack had reached the Damage Step, but Reaper was destroyed by his effect and not battle damage.

I agree that ther is no replay, but will Player B gets battle damage or not?

The target was destroyed by using "Rush Recklessly". Since there is no replay, I would say Player B takes no damage since Reaper was in defense to begin with when the Damage Step began.

If "Spirit Reaper" is destroyed by its effect during the Damage Step, such as if "Rush Recklessly" was activated to increase its ATK, destroy "Spirit Reaper" with its effect AFTER damage calculation.

From www.Yugioh-card.com

And there is no replay...
I see. This makes things really complicated in Damge Step Game Mechanic. It looks like Damage Step:sub-step 2:flip monsters is very picky on which continuous effect monster will resolve first. Jinzo and Goblin King will resolve here, but Berserk Gorilla will activate but will not resolve until Damge Step:sub-step 5:resolution.

Now on Spirit Reaper's case when it's targeted by Rush Recklessly, it's effect will activate in Damage Step:sub-step 3:calculate damage, but will not resolve until Damge Step:sub-step 5:resolution.

This is news to me. I love to understand Game Mechanic. I will update my Battle Phase article

Bigred Blues answered it from the FAQ ruling. Reaper actually survives until after Damage Calculation. Which kinda breaks the rule of Continuous Effect on resolving between chains.
