Inuyasha_Riku

the drumming duelist
before i go home, i duel my friend after school every day..however these past few weeks, no matter what i've run, he's always been able to beat me for some reason with a chaos deck he created himself using 3 chaos sorcerors, a LOT OF CHAINABLE s/t's and even kuriboh(hows that for originality?) now im kind of in a dueling slump in a way...my self confidence in my deck building really feels kinda down...and i dont know what kind of deck to run anymore...ive always tried making decks that can counter the chaos thing..(kycoo, rfp decks, gk..) but nothing works...as proud as i am of my friend being able to beat me after so many months, i would like to be able to see victory again...anyone have any deckbuilding/gaming advice?

haha...if only i hadnt traded it away...altho u may have a point there...perhaps soul control could work...

I've been here before. Instead of building decks to counter something, just build something you're a fan of; something that you have a place in your heart for. I know it sounds corny, but if your heart isn't it, you're not dueling for the right reasons.

My advice? Stick with what you know and what you love. In the end, you'll feel better about yourself and have a better sense of self-respect knowing that something you put your heart into was successful. If at first you don't succeed... try, try again.

thanks jathro.....truly great advice..im just curious tho...what do u do when ur friend has everything that can almost counter anything u do? like whenever i activate any s/t destruction, whatever i destroy always ends up being a Waboku or a Scapegoat or a Ceasefire when theres a full field...how do u stop the annoyance of that?

Keep him on his toes with different stuff. If he has a sense of what you're going to play, chances are he'll know how to counter it. At least... he thinks he will. You'll have the upper hand cause you're mixing it up and staying one step ahead.

haha...mayb i shouldnt tell him what deck im running everyday...ive dueled my friend a LOT...i know his deck and he knows my decks inside and out....

Play mind games with him. Like him, have an answer for every situation. Especially effective you use the same basic card type for every situation. Try making an Inferno Tempest deck-out deck with Waboku, Threatening Roar, Thunder of Ruler, etc. in triplicate. Use Rush Recklessly on his Chaos Sorcerer, and then bust Inferno Tempest. Next turn? No OTK. Just try to kill the Chaos Sorcerer, and deck him out. Make a good show of it too. I don't mean be unsportsmanlike, I just mean be glad when that look comes across his face as you yell, "Activate... Inferno Tempest!!!!" Be proud of what you've done, you deserve it.

If this is the case you could very likely build any type of deck from scratch and do better against him. When you duel the same deck over and over you have a tendency to continue to tweak to one up that specific deck. After a while your deck is just about perfect against what you are up against (sounds like what your friend has going). The trouble is you are usually no longer able to flexibly deal with other decks as well. A Skill Drain deck mostly consists of heavy duty monsters like Fuselier, Goblin Attack Force, Giant Orc, that smash anything the opponent has. The Skill Drain is there to undo the drawback to running these monsters. As a great bonus you stop a lot of the more devastating effects of your opponents monsters. No removal for Chaos Sorcerer, no suicide removals for D. D. Warrior Lady, no worrying about losing your monster when attacking D. D. Assailant. No problem when you attack a set Night Assailant. It isn't uber-powerful (there are ways to foil a Skill Drain deck just like any other deck). But it can quickly stomp an unprepared deck that isn't used to that kind of raw power coming at them round after round. To get real tricky add a Royal Decree or two and MST, along with Emergency Provisions. It can get really frustrating to have things swapping back and forth with these cards.

Or you could Jank him to death (65th gratuitous reference to the deck no one understands or cares about) :D

Inaccurate as heck. I care about your jank deck. It's awesome. I just have never seen it as very competitive.

deck depot...can someone guide me to this jank deck...this sounds like something that can catch my dueling buddy off guard...

Some defense for the monsters is always nice. My Body as a Shield, Spell Shield Type-8, some Nimble Momongas to pick up some quick life points and thin the deck. Final Attack Orders is always punishing. Fake Trap can keep your Skill Drain alive. Reinforcement of the Army to grab GAF or Elite.

hmm...so a Skill Drain deck is mostly made of beatsticks and keeping them and Skill Drain alive...i suppose i could try it out...im trying to figure it out tho...how many like Goblin Elite Attack Force, Goblin Attack Force, Giant Orcs would i need...should i add zombyra too?

you really want to shock him?? side deck a couple of Prohibition... heheheh....

Remember, its not the actual deck building you do.... its the fact that you have it in your head he cant be beat now.... Take the Indianapolis Colts for example... its been in their heads that they cannot beat the Patriots.... but tonight, Peyton Manning and the Colts CRUSHED them.... it was in their heads... now they are over the hump.... You are a good duelist, your deck is fine.. .. side deck just for him.... if you arent running Bottomless Trap Hole, run it... if you have Solemn Judgment, and a 7 Tools of the Bandit or 2.... run them.... these will be unexpected as your friend seems to have a Trap to counter everytying right....

How about Giant Trunade... You know what his strengths are..... those are also his weaknesses.... take advantage of the things he is relying on to crush you... .. and you will turn it around. Dont let a few defeats by the same person get your confidence shaken up ..... you just have to think about it... what is the strength of that deck.... cuz more times than not, you can turn that into a weakness as well.... If you need to swarm him faster than he swarms you, do it.... if you need to pack a Chaos Sorcered of your own... DONT.....

HMMM.... how about a warrior / DD deck... make sure to pack D. D. Survivor, a couple of equip cards and i think Solemn Judgment with 7 Tools of the Bandit will counter those traps and Chaos Sorcerers of his..... be smart... and patient.... you will win..... dont think too much... just exploit HIS deck.... so he doesnt do it to you..... make sense?
