Premature Burial

The effect of this card looks as follows:
1. The targeted monster in the graveyard is special summoned.
2. The monster is equipped with Premature Burial.

Since the last thing to happed was "a monster was equipped with and equip card" Bottomless Trap Hole cant be activated, right?

Not really. Being a nomi and responding to a non-event are two different effects of him. I just wanted his 2nd for an example. But since people want 'full' cards as examples I dropped him.

I'm not certain what all this debate is about. If the above scenario did occur with Premature Burial, then indeed cards such as Trap Hole may miss their timing; however, here is the current text of Premature Burial:

Pay 800 Life Points. Select 1 monster from your Graveyard, Special Summon it on the field in face-up Attack Position, and equip it with this card. When this card is destroyed, destroy the equipped monster.

The effect of Premature Burial should look like this:
1. Pay 800 LP's to activate card.
2. Select (target) 1 monster from your Graveyard.
3. Special summon monster in attack position AND equip it with this card.

The special summoning and equipping occur at the same time. Special summoning is one of the last actions to occur in the game state; thus, Bottomless Trap Hole can be used given the special summoned monster has 1500 ATK or more.

You cant equip a monster that's not face-up on the field already. So when you attempt the equipping it is already successfully summoned to the field.

Ah, yes, but that is the weird exception to Premature burial. It must be activated first, then the special summon. At this point, since its target was grabbed from the graveyard, it is equipped to it as it hits the field. Really, for consistancy sake, Pre- should probably (in hindsight) been a continuous card, rather than an equip card, as generally you are right, an equip card cannot be activated if it has nothing to equip to.

I didnt mean the activation (nor did ygo doc), I meant the act of equipping. When the equipping part of the effect is resolved the target must be face-up on the field already.

Mentioning Autonomous Action Unit is not the best idea since it is practically the same as Premature Burial for the opponents grave.

But in the anime for example Future Fusion was an equip spell card. It sent the monsters to the grave, then fusion summoned the fusion monster and then equipped itself to it. At the point where the equipping occurs the fusion monster is already face-up on the field.
