Proving a Point

Ok, a lot of people have been saying that Jar of Avarice isn't broken, and won't be restricted. But it will, because it is. And to prove it, here we go:

2
Dark Driceratops x2

13
Ojama Green x2
Ojama Black x2
Ojama Yellow x2
Shining Angel x3
King of the Swamp x2
Enraged Battle Ox x2

18
Ojamagic x3
Jar of Avarice x3
Polymerization x3
Back to Square One x3
MST
Bait Doll x2
Swords of Revealing Light
Ground Collapse x2

8
Spatial Collapse x3
Bubble Crash x2
Raigeki Break x3

Ok, still a rough draft now, but should get interesting.

Hey can you post the effects of both Ojamagic AND Jar of Avarice.... that way we can visualize the combo... also so that we know.. lol thanks man..

Ojamagic: When this card is sent from your hand or field to the graveyard (otherwise known as ACTIVATED) add one Ojama Green, Ojama Black, and Ojama Yellow from your deck to your hand.
Jar of Avarice: Return 5 monsters from your graveyard to your deck, and shuffle it. Draw two cards.
You can, I'm sure, see the combo there :)

the jar is preaty basic.

put 5 monsters in your graveyard to your deck.
Draw 2 cards.

thats it.

so basically i belive that if there are sick Incenerator decks flying around for a while the jar wont prove to be worth much.

if lately, all cards have to go through all their effects, like Triangle Ecstacy Spark, then this will end up the same.

somebody is going to run something like Disappears or Big Burn just for this and itll be worth nothin.

like i stated in the thread that had it in it. It wont be restricted If Brain Control has yet to get restricted what makes you think this will?

the only reason why Lightning Vortex got restricted is becuase the serpent was around and people mad destroyed field.

Too hard to pull off. Creates horrible topdeck for your 2 cards.

It -could- be restricted in the eyes of someone overrating it.

But in reality, the same people think that Royal Decree and Enemy Controller should be limited.

I don't think it's going to be limited, no one in the right mind would run 3 and still win.

My two cents: Jar of Avarice = barely playable.

Not only is it extremely situational (requiring 5 monsters in grave to activate), it causes you to draw into more monsters, which we all know isn't good (most of the time).

Graveyard removal completely ruins this card's life, and running a bunch of graveyard-filling jank like Thunder Dragons just to get a +1 isn't a good idea either.

If you can't meet the activation requirements of this card (which you won't be able to do 99% of the time), this becomes a useless topdeck. The new format is almost all topdecking after the intitial Don & Reaper attacks, so that's another strike against this card.

Overall, I think it's worth experimenting with, but any good player could tell you this card will never be viable in the current format.

P.S. Ojamas are goofy :/

Having five monsters in the Graveyard is extremely situational? Is the whole premise around how hard this card is to get off based on the fact that you can't activate it on turn one? It's nt Pot of Greed folks. Its not meant to be just as playable. But barely playable? The next game you play, count the turns until you have five monsters in your Graveyard and ask yourself if a Jar of Avarice would be usefl right about now.

Thank you DJ. As you said (and as I was trying to say, but evidently could not) Jar of avarice is not just another Pot of Greed in a weaker form. It is its own card, abusable and situational in its own ways.

yes, its deck specific, wish it were "any 5 cards" that would make it extremely playable.

half the time you would add only 1 monster and 2 spells and 2 traps just to pump your self up.

but with the monster thing it makes its uses most appeared in fusion decks, not your regular run of the mill deck.

and for everybodies knowledge, the last time i had 5 monsters in my grave yard was on turn 20 were i had lost.

and the 5th monster just had entered my graveyard which was the reason why i lost.

trust me with 19 monsters, sometimes you either start your hand with 1 creature, no creatures or a bunch of creatures that you can probably keep on the field because your opponent has nothing to get rid of them.

telling ya, its way over rated, the peeps at metagame WAY overated this, and thats the truth. they did WAY over rate this card.

they did a good job with wild man, which people expect to see in main decks.

the ability to be unaffected by trap cards is just horrible.

especially when its a 4 star 1500/1600.

now all you do is an axe or a breaking flamberge bou and you will have a mini Dark Ruler Ha Des in Warrior form.

Elemental Hero Wildman coming out in EEN.

Elemental Hero Wildman
Level 4
EARTH/Warrior/Effect
This card is unaffected by the effects of Trap Cards.
ATK 1500/DEF 1600

Another perfect target (besides Jinzo) for Call of the Haunted. LOL

You know... I dont think Jar of Avarice WAS made for the masses... only those that see its potential.. sort of like Judgment of Anubis, or Lava Golem..... they are deadly, but they have to be used correctly. I think Pssvr is on to something, and if he makes this a deadly combo, then KUDOS are in order. I would like to see this deck do well at a regional, and take some names and leave them crying at locals.... I think what makes this card "Barely Playable" isnt the idea that its hard to play it right..... .. its the fact that you have to have the balls to play it.

What about those decks that run alot of searchers say... hmm like 3 nimbles 3 rats, and maybe some Mystic Tomato.... cuz they would get in the grave pretty quickly right.... put them in and replenish your field presence cards, and draw 2 more cards while you are at it.... that is why i put it in my Flip ... Flip flop .... Flip Flop Anonymous deck..... those monster ARE going , and they will go quick, but they willl replenish and I wil get to draw some more cards....

If he can pull it off in here..... that kicks A....

By the way, I think some Shining Angels would be good in here....

Word. *Chalks one up to the king*
Yeah, I had already mentioned on a different thread how well this would work in a "Deck" deck. You know, one that operates entirely from the deck, as per Tomato Swarm. Gonna put some angels in now.

<coughs> I've already been working on this. It isn't that hard to get off a Jar of Avarice or have plenty of monsters to pull it off. If you're going to use Avarice, you'll obviously have some kind of support engine in the deck to make it work more smoothly.

Sure it might not look like a card that merits much use but people forget that cards like Horn of Heaven make it even more playable. So Jar of Avarice has use and it requires people to do a little work to pull anything off with it. Similar to how Serial Spell works, which isn't a card for the simple minded. Jar of Avarice is no different.

I only say all that because I've been thinking of ways to use the card for roughly two or three months. Boy, the possibilities. =)

the searcher deck has 1 big weakness that some people dont play no more.

Asura Priest, you can clear a whole field of searchers with it.

i remember when i used to run it, the searcher deck requires field presence and Asura Priest just anahilates it.
