question on trooper (might sound a bit nooby)

this concerns the second part of trooper's effect
Ok so card trooper says
'when this card is destroyed and sent to your graveyard,draw 1 card.'
now i thought that this effect would not worked if it is tributed e.g for raiza.
because of course it is not destroyed it is tributed.
however some people have played it so that they can tribute it and then draw a card.
am i right?
or am i missing something?

As you said, Tribute <> Destroy. 2 separate things, so no, the wouldn't draw a card.

i belive the only noob question is a question un-asked, and no, being sacked isnt the same as destroy. you do not draw a card for troopers effect if hes sacked
