Questions about Netrep pictures (Unlimiteds) and inquiries about Forbidden Legacy

I have some questions:

I saw something called Forbidden Legacy on the Internet it contained a Spell Ruler, LOB, and MRD-EN packs. Are these made by a third party or Upperdeck/Konami?

It also contains three promos. I believe they are Kuriboh, BEWD, and Dark Magician.

I also heard their release date was on 10/18/05. If this is so, then why have I not read any press releases on this item.

Does anyone know any retailers that may have the product? Or if anyone has it in their local store? Ebay has a bunch of these on sale.

Also, I noticed that the Netrep cards always show Unlimited edition cards. Why is that? I just saw the Unlimited versions of the SD5 cards on Netrep today.

Have the Unlimited versions of Cybernetic Revolution and SD5 been released yet? By now Cybernetic Revolution should have been released by now? I have checked Ebay and local hobby stores in my area, it seems no one has the Unlimited version of Cybernetic Revolution? Stores like Target that I checked out also had the structures but they were only 1st edition.

I would really like to know why, it is just so unfair! I really want to find a place that UNLIMITED Edition structure decks and Cybernetic Revolution packs?

<not being helpful> Any particular reason you prefer unlimiteds? And no, I'm about 60% sure there is no such thing as Forbidden Legacy</not being helpful>

EDIT: So much for 60%, eh?

Yes the promos are BEWD DM and Kuriboh, they are out at my store, and they aren't to much to brag about IMO. I really didn't see the point of releasing these.

A couple questions:
  1. What is the rarity of the promos? (Ultra, Super, Secret perhaps?)
  2. What artwork do the promos have? A much easier to find Purple Kuriboh intrigues me :dope: But that's probably just wishful thinking.

Well, I just called UDE and found out the Forbidden Legacy series is an Upperdeck released product only. I also found out that the reason there were no press releases or display of this product is because, most stores chose not to hold this product due to it being cards from previous sets.

In addition it looks like DR2 has been delayed. It is very upsetting that CRV unlimiteds have not been released yet. Personally, I have the following notions:

1.)1st edition cards are meant for collectors, they should not be played or legal in tournaments
This is mainly due to the fact, that so many times cards would have to be errated. Usually the most recent version of a card is the Unlimited Version.

2.)Why UDE makes 1st edition starters is beyond me? Even though UDE/Konami make profit. Konami makes the most profit, as well as UDE, but when 1st editions (which are the first printed and have higher collectors value due to that) are so easily mass produced they kind of lose a bit of their value.

3.)1st editions at best should be printed in limited release (as most 1st editions in other TCG's are), or played in pre-release events. It would make sense that they would be present in pre-release events, since they are pre-releases.

If anyone knows where I can obtain a Forbidden Legacy pack, please let me know.

I believe Toys'R'us is carrying the Forbidden Legacy fo $9.99. That is where I found them here in Illinois. The contain a pack of LOB, MRD, and SRL and one of 3 Secret Rare Variants. The Promos are Dark Magician, Blue-Eyes White Dragon, and Kuriboh. The art of the promos are the versions that came in those sets contained with this package (sorry no Purple Kuriboh).

Sad thing is, the one I got the Secret Rare Kuriboh promo in, the MRD pack contained the regular Super Rare Kuriboh too.

Empyre Group uses a proprietary card generator to "create" our card images so that we don't have to rely on full card scans. It makes for better image quality and therefore a better experience for the users of the Card Registry. In theory, we could make every card a First Edition if we wanted to do so, but I believe that it is merely the preference of the man running the generator itself rather than any policy that we have. Overall, there isn't any difference in the cards themselves, so it's just an aspect of the card that we keep for consistency throughout the Registry itself.

Thanks for the info. I like that they show unlimited edition pictures. When I first saw cards like Salamandra's as spells I assumed that they were reprinted as such.

Actually, if you want to get really technical why they're all Unlimiteds, it's because I never coded the ability to do superscript into the image generator, which would have been necessary for the "1st Edition" text :D

Personally, I like them just the way they are too. Except Negate Attack, since Promos scan so horribly! (I have had a Japanese Negate Attack for a while now in common format, but in the efforts of accuracy have never switched it out)
