Rate my Deck

RIP Jacob KT 2/16/06
I Finally got around to updating this post. The deck has existed for about 9 months now.

Although I only set Cyber Jar as a VERY last resort the deck can now win if it gets removed from play. Cannon Soldier plays a big role as one Cannon Soldier can do 3500 damage in one turn. Cannon Soldiers REALLy help the deck along, they do more then enough extra damage in between Cyber Jars to make the Secret Barrels do enough damage; special summon Cannon Soldier with Cyber Jar and tribute all monsters before using The Shallow Grave and Book of Taiyou again (they are going to be destroyed anyway) unless of course I need to tribute those monsters for DMOC to get back The Shallow Grave or Book of Taiyou.
I'm no longer sure why I continue to run Book of Moon in there, I originally used it to flip Cyber Jar face down when special summoned by Mystic Tomato and attack by an opponent's monster... I still use it to get Cyber Jar face down defense in conjunction with Premature Burial... alot. I sometimes use it on Magician of Faith. I guess the reason I still run it is because it seems to help quite a bit.
Night Assailant were originally put in there to get back Cyber Jar with Morphing Jar or Card Destruction but I don't really do that anymore nor does the the opportunity come up when I don't have another way to get back Cyber Jar without using my normal summon/set. Night Assailant is mainly in there to ensure there is a monster in my opponent's graveyard so that I may use The Shallow Grave.
I wanna put in a 3rd Reload and I'm torn between what card to take out; the cards I would consider are Call of the Haunted, Book of Moon, Sinister Serpent or Mystic Tomato. In the end I think it's going to be Mystic Tomato because Mystic Tomato was originally put in there to get Cyber Jar out faster, as were Morphing Jar, Card Destruction, and Reloads. Now I don't have a way to dump my mystics in the grave after I actually do get Cyber Jar because Painful Choice is banned and the only thing they would be good for is lowering my chances of getting a "the pair" (The Shallow Grave and Book of Taiyou), increasing my chances of getting 2 tributes for Dark Magician of Chaos, getting out Cannon Soldier (which does some extra damage but lowers my chances of getting a tribute for DMOC with Cyber Jar and Lowers my chanced of getting Cannon Soldier with Cyber Jar; that's a bid deal unless I can activate a Scapegoat at the end phase for 2000 damage), or stalling.
Now let me explain Desert Sunlight for a second. I discovered this card while playing the first deck-out deck I had seen in almost 2 years which, as it would seem, is similar in construction of my deck. Now it has been extreemly important that I have enough ways to get out Cyber Jar more then just 3 times (x3 shallow grave) and I originally did this by adding 3 magicians of faith and Dark Magician of Chaos. This helped but wasn't quite enough. So I discovered the power of Spear Cretin, premature + Book of Moon, and Call of the Haunted + Book of Moon. Every so often I would have multiple ways to get Cyber Jar on the field face down but no way to flip it that one last time nessisary for game. Also, Book of Taiyou can serve as a forced flip on Spear Cretin so cretin's effect will go off when tributed by Cannon Soldier... that however, requires x2 Book of Taiyou in my hand (one for Spear Cretin and another for Cyber Jar) leaving me with little to no chance of picking up my 3rd or, in some cases, non-existant (cause they are all in the grave) Book of Taiyou to get Cyber Jar to go off one more time. Desert Sunlight serves as the final blow and backup for Cyber Jar. The fact that it is a trap means that it is the last forced flip of Cyber Jar in the duel. I will get out Cyber Jar via shallow grave (or some other method_ and set Desert Sunlight and however many Secret Barrels I have. I will then, after I end and my opponent draws, activate Desert Sunlight. After Desert Sunlight resolves i will activate however many Secret Barrels I have. If this isn't enough damage I usually lose 1 of 2 ways. The first is my opponent ends his turn and I lose by default because there are no cards remaining in my deck or my opponent crushes me because he/she has the cards to win (because I gave them to him/her).

If you play this deck you'll spend anywhere from 2-5 turns wondering what i'm doing and when I'm actually going to do some damage. Then, once I have everything ready and in order, I'll spend 5-10 minutes on one turn during which time you will make one or more of the following statments:

"Hmmm... maybe I can deck you out"
response: I plan on decking myself out

"are you done yet?"
resonse: you'll never get to main phase 1 of your next turn so it doesn't matter

"end your turn already"
response: patience is a virtue

"I'm going to destroy you next turn"
response: I highly doubt that

"what is the point of all this?" (assuming they havn't seen a secrel barrel come out with Cyber Jar yet or they just can't put 2 and 2 together)
response: you'll see

After my turn is over, after you draw, you'll have anywhere from 9 to 22 cards in your hand, enough to devestate you with 3, 2 or sometimes even one Secret Barrel.

have you considered morphing jar for other discarding? also, you might use giant trunade to further increase amt of cards in opponent's hands. Another burn card that's very useful besides restructer revolution and secret barrel is des koala. it's even better when comboed with tsukuyumi or book of moon.

just some suggestions, nice idea - and quite well built deck

Morphing jar is definatly something to consider. Only problem is it's a flip monster, which makes him slow...

Giant trunade doesn't help me much because I only have 1 restructer revolution and I'm trying to reduce the amount of topdecks in my deck. I mean, x3 book of taiyou, x3 the shallow grave, and x3 Secret Barrel is 9 topdecks right there. Not to mention I have MST, Emergency provisions, Restructer Revolution, Card of Safe Return, Spear Cretin, Hallowed Life Barrier... You get the idea.

I do like the deck idea, but I think I see a problem. Your deck seems over-defensive and lacking in firepower. Here are the offense cards that are going to do damage, that I see.

Cannon Soldier
Mystic Tomatos ( but you want these destroyed, and will likely lose LP )
Secret Barrel ( I can't see running 3 of these, especially with so many Jinzos and now a Jinzo re-print? )
Restructer Revolution
DMoC

Did I get that right? So, breaking it down, I think you could add more support/offense and still not hurt the deck. Des Koala is a monster that does the same thing as Restructer, only its 400 points per card, double what the spell does. Also slower due to a flip, so, ok, put in 2 and take out a secret barrel and shallow grave.

Next, because of what I said above, I hate being heavy ( in my decks ) on cards that could help my opponent, here I see Shallow Grave and Spear Cretin. I love when people play these against me! I know they can work well and get out what you need, but unless you can finish me off with that move, you could have it backfire.

Just some thoughts, I like the originality!

I tried Using Des Koala before, by the time my opponent has enough cards in his/her hand there just simply isn't enough time or a reason to use Des Koala.

It doesn't matter what I get my opponent gets with The Shallow Grave because I always get Cyber Jar and use Book of Taiyou on it the same turn.

Secret Barrel is the purpose of the deck...

DMOC isn't doing any damage, it's only purpose is magic recursion.

...darn, I have to go, i'll finish my response later

suggestions

I would definitely suggest some Giant Rats in there...to get out Cyber Jar. No sense in calling it a cyber jar, if you never get to bring him out while sitting at the bottom of the deck. Giant Rat gets him out, then just play book of moon.
You should add 2 Morphing Jar #2 also. Happy Dueling

Could you rate/fix at my Inferno Tempest Deck on todays posts.

Cyber Jar is a dark type... that's why I have 3 Mystic Tomatoes...

Thats one of the reasons I have the Book of Moon in there :)

Morphing Jar 2 would DEFINATLY hurt me. It would get rid of my Books of Taiyou, Secret Barrels, and Shallow Graves.

By the way everyone. I tried the following:
-1 mirage of nightmare
-1 MST
-1 Emergency Provisions

+1 Morphing Jar
+1 Night Assailant

Ran into the following problem:
no cards left in deck, active card of safe return on the field, need to use Cyber Jar 1 more time to win.

Activating The Shallow Grave causes me to lose the duel... and I have no way of getting rid of Card of Safe Return :-(

I still think my deck is better this way... Just need a way around this, cause this happened to me alot

Monster Reincarnation

If I may suggest...Monster Reincarnation

This handy-dandy spell (which I play with myself) would keep Cyber Jar from "staying dead". And, with 3 Night Assailants in the deck, you have potential infinite discards. See if you can fit at least one Monster Reincarnation in the deck, or, if possible, two or three. I would suggest replacing Shallow Grave with it, but that's up to you.

I can guarantee you'll find some use out this particularly useful card.

I like the idea a lot. Keep it up, and happy dueling.

Well here's what I have to say about that:

I often need my normal summon/set for somthing other then cyber jar :-(

In fact, come to think of it, I almost always need it for somthing other then Cyber Jar.

I usually need it to:
A)tribute 2 monster I obtained with Cyber Jar for DMOC to get either the Shallow Grave or Book of Taiyou I need to use Cyber Jar a 2nd or 3rd time
B)Use to summon Cannon Soldier so that I can do enough damage so that Secret Barrels will kill opponent after he/she draws at draw phase when I end

So while you would think I use Night Assailant to get back Cyber Jar that's only 20% of why he is in there. He's in there to stall and, above all, destroys monsters so that I am able to use The Shallow Grave.

By the way, I replaced the Hallowed Life Barrier with Reload.

Maybe you ought to try some Shallow Graves because this could be good recursion for Cyber Jar. Since you want to flip Cyber Jar over and over again, then The Shallow Grave does the job.

Ok, I finally made decided what card to take out for the 3rd Reload. I took out a Mystic Tomato for the 3rd Reload. I showed this deck to the lv3 judge (John Williams A.K.A. Krazy Kilroy) at the regionals in New Jersey last saterday and he thought it was really interesting. The deck beat someone from top 16, I tried to duel other people from top 8 but they were in no mood for more dueling.

I met Yugi (the yugi from these forums) at the regionals and he can vouch for this deck. Anyone who has doubts about this deck can send me a message via AIM at laskyalexr for a duel, I look forward to it.

Also, I have 212 views and only 14 responses, most of them my own... I'd sorta like to hear people's opinions :(

Yes, it's quite the interesting deck. Between rounds I was watching him duel another judge. I thought that's the deck that I saw on Netrep. So I asked if it was him. Yep, he's non-other than exiledforcefreak. It was great fun to watch, especially, when he found someone to play for the first time. Most of the players didn't seem to have any idea what he was doing until it was over. I expect some of the more experienced players, immediately noticed all the elements of a deck-out deck, and figured he was having trouble. (He always had fewer cards left in his deck, that in his opponents deck.)

For those that may have missed it above, he is actually doing his best to get though all his cards! Several times he succeeded, by flipping cyber jar with 5 or less card in his deck. (Cyber Jar picks up cards instead of drawing them, so you don't lose if you have less than 5) If he decks out, he's probably got all 3 secret barrels down, and you have 20+ cards in your hand and on the field.

At this regionals, I was sure that I would get beat, because I designed my deck the night before and never play tested it. (I was right :)) But, when I lose, I generally learn more than when I win, and I learned a lot! (Most, if not all of my losses were because of hand disadvantage) But watching this deck also taught me a lot, not only about this deck, but also how to play and defeat deck-out decks. (I've never seen one played.)

Exiledforcefreak, Although I carefully read your post before regionals, I didn't really get it until I saw this deck in action. I expect that only those people that have experience with deck-out decks, will be able to contribute in a meaningful way. It doesn't surprise me that few have something to add. However, I am guilty of not chirping in when I have do have something to add. I'll go back and do it, especially for your posts, since you've spent a lot of time posting things that help educate other players.

You get a 10 for originality on this one. I'll go back to trying to design a deck that will get a 1 for originality, but I can win with. You've inspired me to make at least one, more original deck for use between rounds. (I'm thinking something with windstorms, gravity axes, asura priests, big bang shot, and maybe mataza). I'm really busy right now, so it probably won't be for a few weeks. But I'll challenge you to an online duel when, I get there.

Jay

P.S.
I did hear someone warn him that he was going to deck himself out, and he did say that "That's my plan." Very funny! Although, I don't think they really believed him.

Hey exiledforcefreak....lookin' sweet as always.

I can say I am one of the "proud" to have been hammered by this deck and yes, you have VERY little room to actually do anything, and when you do, you're typically looking at a Secret Barrel death.

The only thing I could possible suggest is replacing one of the Secret Barrels for a Cemetery Bomb. I do believe I had one instance where I had a ton of cards in my graveyard, due to the continual recycling and not as many in the hand, since I had done a lot of setting, realizing I was about to have my hand dumped/disrupted again. Cemetery Bomb could provide another nice little piece of damage to that. If for some reason they were able to stop a Secret Barrel, or you were unlucky enough not to get one, your opponent will have to drop a lot from the hand, and the bomb will be a nasty surprise.

That's about all I can offer, its quite an interesting and deadly deck. Congrats!

cyber jar 4 times in 1 turn its to crazy for me <_>. very original probly most original

by the way that f/d was threatining roar and that deck is awsome.
