if I attack with sinister serpent against reflect bouder.during damage calculation wouldn't I only take 300 damage?

I ask this cause it says his effect is used as effec damage not battle. Of course i'm not even looking at the card just going off memory. But am I right.

i know he would die but I failed to realize that I would take so much. I know for any other monster I could just take damage in difference of attack. But I thought that cause of his effect I would only take 300. I''m still in the dark on this subject. I'll beleive you but keep my options on answers open.

well the reason why this happens is because it doesnt skip damage calculations.

what it does is go.

"Im being attacked! before getting to calculations let me see the monster? :)"

"aww 300 attackers i see, okay before we continue on you will take 300 damage :)"

"Now lets go to damage calculations, AAAAH! i see your only 300 compared to my 1700 :)"

"You will take 1400 and you go to the graveyard, but in a few ill see you there my self because i feel like going there with you :)"

its a short story in the life that Reflect bounder takes when it is in face up attack. :)

So technically IFL vs Bounder you could take only 400 damage from Bounder's effect and then crush him with leftovers by using her effect during damage step.
