Regarding Harpie Lady Sisters and Mask of Dispel.

Harpie Lady Sisters is not supposed to be a Nomi monster, right? (The updated text has "except by" in it).

As for Mask of Dispel, when it first came out the description said the controller of the targeted Spell Card takes damage during his/her Standby Phase. It was later changed to say it's during yours (the one using Mask of Dispel). This is no longer listed in the errata list.

Harpie Lady Sisters
Effect Monster (Winged Beast / WIND / 6 Stars / ATK 1950 / DEF 2100)

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by the effect of "Elegant Egotist".

Well, the errata makes "Harpie Lady Sisters" a Nomi monster now.

So it does appear to be off the list. RONIN and the Card Registry still list the errata-ed text. Hmm... all I can say about this is to e-mail the judges list to see what Kevin or Curtis has to say about that.

I think UDE is still going "wth?!?!?!" to Konami on that. And if they're not, I will go it on them.

The Japanese one is not nomi. Nomi didn't even appear until 302/Magician's Force.

Pardon my ignorance but I never did catch what the term "NOMI" means... I keep hearing it and reading it but nobody has ever explained it. :?

A "nomi" monster is a monster that cannot be Special Summoned from the Graveyard, even if it was originally Special Summoned properly. These nomi monsters typically read: "This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by[...]." That's how you determine whether a monster is a nomi monster.

So Helpoemer fits in that category as well as The Creator since their text says "cannot be Special Summoned from the Graveyard". OK I understand now.... hahaha

Curious WTH did the term "nomi" come from? What is the true Origin of the jargon?
(sound all philosophical here haha)

Helpoemer and The Creator (plus Dark Ruler Ha Des) could be Special Summoned from the "Different Dimension", though, so they're not entirely nomi monsters.

And the term "nomi" means "only" in Japanese, so that might have something to do with it (although it also means "flea" and "chisel" :)

And to add to that a little more.

The "nomi" monsters have only 1 way to bring them to the field (LV monsters have 2, the main way and the "Level Up!" way, but Horus L8 and Armed Dragon LV7 are both Nomi's as well) and once the are sent to the graveyard or removed from play, they can't be special summoned back to the field. The card would have to be returned to your hand and then use that 1 way to bring them out.

"Exodia Necross", "Sorcerer of Dark Magic", "Dark Paladin", "Mazera DeVille", "Spirit of the Pharaoh", "Theinen the Great Sphinx", "Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8", "Armed Dragon LV7", "Dark Magician Knight", the XYZ Fusion Monsters, "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon", "Archlord Zerato", and agian, thanks to the errata, "Harpie Lady Sisters", currently are "Nomi" Monsters (although currently, "Exodia Necross" and the "XYZ" Fusions don't have the "This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by the effect of <EFFECT>" text.)

Feel free to add any I may have missed.

ummm here's one... Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon.

This can ONLY be summoned from your DECK by offering REBD with Metalmorph as a tribute.

Well, that and "Metalzoa"... well... I didn't see a ruling on those about what happens after they are correctly summoned...

We should start a new thread for this before we go even more off-topic than we already did. (My bad too).
