replay/DDWL questions...

1)my opponent has 3 marauding captains and a skull servant face up on the field, I attack the skull servant and he activates compulsory evacuation device targetting one of his marauding captains, does this cause a replay? I think it doesn't bescause even if the number of monsters has changed, no potential attack target has appeared/disappeared...

2)my opponent attacks my face down gravekeeper's guard with the only monster he has on the field, his DD warrior lady, and decides to remove both...what happens?

thank you...

For number 2: unless of course your opponent has another monster on the field besides DD Warrior Lady, then you could bounce the other monster.

I don't agree with #1...as far as I know, a replay is triggered when the number of potential attack targets changes...not the number of monster...

Incorrectly phrased, I'm afraid. It's not the attack target that triggers the replay, it's the number of potential attack targets that trigger the replay. This has been covered on the Judges List many times. When the number of potential attack targets (numberof monsters) changes then a replay is always triggered.

Using the term "number of monsters" is dangerous and inaccurate.

The player is a potential attack target as well. If you're the defending player and you have two monsters, and an effect becomes active that makes you the player (direct attack to life points) a potential or even ONLY target, then it triggers a replay...as well as if the number of monsters on the defending side of the field changes.

Granted. I guess the only thing I wanted to make sure was clearly understood is that a change in the number of monsters is in fact a change of potential attack targets. There seemed to some disagreement with that. But we've been using the "number of monters" explanation for so long, it seemed strange not too. However, this is something we should probably start nitpicking on, along with the "monsters do not have priority, players do" nitpick. I is a seemingly small thing that even I really hadn't thought through till this thread.

So the nitpick sholdbe, it's not just the number of dfending monsters that trigger a replay, but the number of potentil attack targets. Man, people are going to hate me over at TCGPlayer. :silly_jedi

Sorry to further nitpick Digital Jedi.....but don't even include the term "number" in the phrase. There are situations where you could have one monster on the field when the attack is announced....and a effect can be activated that immediately changes the potential attack target...but not the number of potential attack targets.

Go by the way the FAQ states. If a potential attack target appears or [ycard="SYE-049]Disappear[/ycard]s. That is a very accurate description that covers all the bases.
