Set Spell Cards

Ok,,, i read somewhere that if you set a magic card on this turn, you cannot activate it till your next turn.....The subject came up at this weekends tourney, but somene was arguing that it depends on if its a quickplay or continuous or regular.... Is this only relevant for quickplay, or continuous or what.... does anyone know if there is an actual ruling on this...??

The rule should only apply to Quick-Play Spells. Therefore if you set "LLAB" or, say, "Raigeki" by Dust Tornado's effect on your turn, you should be able to activate it immediately afterwards.

but what if i am just setting it so that i can keep it after using Card Destruction..... lets say I set Pot of Greed, or Swords of Revealing Light.... then play Card Destruction.... can i then use those set magic cards on the same turn??

Yes you can set a spell card like "Swords of Revealing Light" or "Pot of Greed", play "Card Destruction", and then activate "Swords" or "Pot".

Basically any Spell card except for Quickplay Spell cards can be set and then later activated during the same turn. If you set a Quickplay Spell card, it functions like a Trap card in that case meaning you can NOT activate it until the next turn.

I thought that only Normal spell cards can be set and activated same turn, and that Field, Continuous, Ritual, Equip, Quick Play, and Normal were of different types of spell cards. So are Quick Plays the only spells that have to be set then activated after your turn ends?

Ok, let's make this question clearer and to a higher level. I am not allowed to activate a set quick-play Magic the turn I set. But, if I draw one during a draw phase, I may use it immediately during the draw phase or standby phase. I am allowed to activate a set normal(which is spell speed 1 inclusive of field magic, equip magic, etc) magic card the same turn I set it. So is my above assumption right?

That's right.

1) If you Set a Quick-Play Spell Card, you cannot activate it in the same turn you Set it.

2) You can activate a Quick-Play Spell Card from your hand during your Draw Phase since it's a Spell Speed 2 card.

3) You are allowed to activate a Spell Speed 1 Spell Card in the same turn you Set it.
