Shuffling the hand?

Someone I play with is asking me (cause I'm usually the more YGO knowledgable one) if he could shuffle his hand, for things like:
If I activate confiscation, then dilinquent duo right after...
Or if he gets sinister serpant and I want to discard exiled that he just got back with sangan...
Or he showed me his Mobious and Snatch Steal with ordeal of a traveler...
So he would want to trick me by shuffling his hand.

I believe the answer is he can't, first it never says in the rule book that you can.

Second, there are cards like wandering shadows (shuffle face down monsters), card shuffle (shuffle deck) and stuff like that, so I think you'd need a card to shuffle your hand if you wanted to do that.

Third, the only way I know to shuffle your hand is by activating jowgens effect, because your not even supposed to know what the card is beforehand. (Unless Im forgetting cards, there are plenty of card in duel monsters.

Thanks for the answer, I'll tell him what you guys say, I'll believe it. ^_^

xD Yeah, but I've learned never to trust what it doesn't say you cant do....

[sarcasm]
Cause it technically doesn't say you cant special summon Kuriboh from your hand, deck, or graveyard during your opponents first draw phase, and then start a special battle phase in which you direct attack him for 8000 and instantly win the game... [/sarcasm]

But we all know there is no way that could ever happen xD;; lol

It's in tournament policy . . . somewhere. You may shuffle your hand at any time. Note that this really means ANY time. I generally shuffle my hand after each draw, so when I play a card, my opponent won't know whether it was a card I drew, or a card I've been holding onto. If they're playing something that relies on allowing their opponent to overextend, this is effective at slowing them down.

Ah okay, thanks alot for the responce ^_^
And for shuffling your hand every draw, thats rather nifty, Im going to do that from now on >:D

There are a few mechanics in the game that aren't directly expressed, but impled. For instance, whenver you search for a monster due to Sangan or Mystic Tomato, you shuffle the deck when you're done shuffling. If you have two more more face down cards in the monster zone or spell/trap zone, you aren't allowed to shuffle them around on the field unless granted permission (such as Shifting Shadows).

Even if the hand couldn't be shuffled everytime, Delinquent Duo requires the card to be chosen at random, which implies you will need to mix up the hand anyway. 8^D

Which is another little topic all in itself....randomizing even if your hand is suppose to be shown at all times due to card effect....it's then turned face down and shuffled until the completion of the card effect.

the hand is Private knowledge. Only the person behind the hand can know.

also Delinquent Duo specifically states that its the opponent who takes the action of discarding and so forth.

so in general you can move around the objects in your hand since they are private.

the field is Public, and moving the location of a card can be a big no no, since its been set since OCG that you cannot move the location of cards.

not to mention when you place cards on the field.

you place them from Left to Right and so on and so forth. but for that you have to have been playing for an extensively long amount of time in the OCG to understand whats going on. Usually nobody cares but when cards like Shifting Shadows comes your like, "huh???"

it makes no sence but then you realize konami makes up rulings and mechanics as they go along.

We'll that is really up to the player, if the player chooses that the opponent can select them randomly, chooses to set the cards mix them up and select them, throw a die, etc.

yea, but if we are going with what the card actually says, then it would be the opponent.

what ever method you use to do it randomly is upto you, but the person that chooses is the opponent not the person playing Delinquent Duo.

Pro, wise your suppose to do exactly what the card says, non you do it what ever way you want. nobody trips. :D

People shuffle their hand all of the time after draws, when hit with a Don, etc. You see it all the time at tournaments. Some people even try to get fancy with it, shuffling so fast you really couldn't watch one card if you tried.

As i have understood, as long as you are NOT moving cards between different sources (i.e. between hand and deck, unless a card effect interveins (e.g. Compulsory Evactuation Device)) shuffling of the hand is perfectly legal
