Soul Exchange and Exiled force!!!

Three cards for two combos:
1.Soul Exchange and Exiled force. Main Phase activate soul exchange then use exiled force effect tributing the first monster
from my opponent to destroy the second one, thus keeping my exiled force on my side of the field to battle again.

2. Soul Exchange and Throwstone Unit. Pretty much same situation with the same effect. Note that Throwstone effect can target itself and according to magical dimension rulings, you can tribute your opponent monster for the tribute of a spellcaster.

Did I miss something???

1. Well, the main reason Soul Exchange doesn't work with Exiled Force is because Exiled looks for it's own Tribute as payment for it's effect.

Here's where we were first instructed about this:

Both I and my opponent have Exiled Force face-up on the field.

Can i use the effect of Soul Exchange to Tribute my opponent's Exiled Force in place of my own, for the effect of my Exiled Force?

Thanks in advance

Nick

Answer:

You cannot.

Monsters like "Exiled Force" and "The Agent of Judgment - Saturn" that require you to Tribute "this card" require you to Tribute them and no one else. It is not possible to Tribute another monster for the cost.

2. Throwstone Unit is a completely different animal, since it's looking for any Warrior as a Tribute. From the get go, it doesn't matter what card is being Tributed for it's effect, as long as it's a Warrior, so any Warrior will do. Exiled doesn't work that way. Exiled must tribute itself from the start.

Way off on point 2. Soul Exchange does not give you permission to use the effect of your opponent's monster since you're not in control of it. All it does is if YOU are going to tribute something either by summon or effect of your OWN monster, you can use your opponent's monster instead. It doesn't give you control of the monster like the was Snatch Steal or Brain Control would. That is the reason why you can't tribute off your opponent's Exiled Force through Soul Exchange or Throwstone Unit through Soul Exchange. You don't control the monster to use said effect.

DX, why are you presuming we're trying to use our opponent's monster's effect? The two scenarios involve an Exiled Force or a Throwstone Unit under your control, not on your opponent's side of the field.

That's not quite how I was reading it initially. In any case yeah if you controlled Throwstone Unit, you could tribute off your opponent's monster for the effect of Throwstone Unit (as long as it was a Warrior Type).

No one else chimed in, so I should point this out:

and according to magical dimension rulings, you can tribute your opponent monster for the tribute of a spellcaster.

I'm assuming you mean after using "Soul Exchange", since normally you can't Tribute your opponent's monsters.

Of course, I should also point out that you only need a Spellcaster-Type monster on your field to activate "Magical Dimension". You can Tribute a monster of any type when "Magical Dimension"'s effect resolves.
