I have a Spirit Reaper and a Patrician of Darkness on the field.
My opponent attacks. Can I choose Spirit Reaper as the target of the attack with Patrician's effect ? Will it destroy Reaper ?

Yes you can choose Reaper as the target of the attack. Patrician's effect would be used on your opponents monster, making him attack Reaper. And so Reaper would not be destroyed.

reaper would get destroyed if it gets target by effect.

say you have a Gravekeepers assialant and your opponent a reaper, Gravekeeper when it attacks and chooses to use its effect on the reaper the reaper will get destroyed and cause a replay effect since the monster change on the opponents side of the field.

i maybe wrong, but in the situation it seems like the reaper will get destroyed.

again i maybe wrong.

ha i was wrong.

here is the asnwer to your question.

This is taken off the FAQ of the yugioh-card site.

"Patrician of Darkness" does not target, so "Spirit Reaper" is not destroyed if you use "Patrician of Darkness" to force your opponent to attack it.

Patrician of Darkness if it were to select Spirit Reaper as an attack target, Spirit Reaper will not be destroyed.

Your opponent declares attacks an normal, your just choosing which monster it will attack, normally like your opponent would choose a monster to attack. It doesn't designate a target.

The only case this would be true if Dream Sprite were face-up and it designates 1 monster. In this case Sprit Reaper would be destroyed.

why would you add spirit barrier?
all it does is make direct attacks 0damage.

No it doesn't. It makes battle damage 0. (when there's a monster on the controller's field)

On its own it would make Damage involving a monster Zero, but would not stop direct attack damage.

or perhaps he is thinking about the fact that people still use Spear Dragon, Gyaku Gire panda, Fairy Meteor Crush, and other cards of the like.... The opponent can attack Reaper all they want... and it wont hurt them...
