1)When TER targets reaper to absorb, does reaper die?
and if it doesnt why not?

2) Hand of Nephthys tribs with reaper, does phoenix get to come out? or is reaper dead?

if i am correct both will work, because when reaper is targeted the chain has to resolve first then his effect takes place.

1. Partly correct. Reaper will not be destroyed since the effect that targeted him, after resolution, changed him into an Equip Card.

Even though he is STILL face-up on the field, he no longer has an effect, therefore, he cannot be destroyed by his "sef-destruction" effect.

2. Tributing Spirit Reaper and Hand of Nephthys is no different that tributing Skull Servant and Skull Servant, with the exception of being able to pull Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys from your Deck.

1. This is similar to Book of Moon that targets Spirit Reaper. Remember, you resolve the effects that target Spirit Reaper first, then you apply the effect of Spirit Reapper being that it is Continuous. Book of Moon would resolve first, placing it face-down, Spirit Reaper can no longer destroy itself since it is no longer face-up, and it's Continuos Effect does not apply.

2. Hand of Nephthys's effect does not target, not only that, the tributed monsters are tributed as the cost to activate it's effect, so they are already in the graveyard.
