Stamping, Dust and Typhoon

Situation:
I have only 500 lp and my it's my opponent's turn. He has a dragon sub-type monster on the field, I have 2 face-down s/t and he activates Stamping Destruction. He targets my Dust Tornado with SD, but, I activate my Typhoon, targeting my own Dust Tornado, trying to not take the 500 lp damage. Now, is it possible to happen or not?
I mean, it's the same old question related to chains and cards that are involved in them... do the cards keep on the field and all effects happen or not (and in the above situation I take the damage)?

I believe this is what you're looking for:

Stamping Destruction[/ycard] ruling]
When you activate this card, if the opponent activates an effect in a chain that destroys the targeted Spell or Trap Card, the opponent will not take the 500 points of damage. If your opponent merely chains the Spell or Trap card that you targeted, the Spell or Trap Card will be destroyed when "Stamping Destruction" resolves and your opponent will take 500 points of damage. (Remember that Spell and Trap Cards remain on the field until the entire chain resolves, unless destroyed by a card effect during the chain.)

In your case, Typhoon destroys Tornado before Stamping can destroy Tornado. Therefore, you will NOT take the 500 damage.
