I tried a Staunch Defender Deck a few years ago, but I went the wrong way with it. Different meta at the time too. I love these things. Especially when your opponent stops attacking you once they catch on. :D I know chaosruler had one that went a totaly different route from either of ours somehwere here in Advance Format. I'll have to look for it. Mine ran Aqua Madoor and Shift. Cross Counter wasn't out back then but lends itself to these decks well, too.

I considered for a time Millenium Shield, Labrynth Wall or Neo Aua Maoor for their high DEF. But never got around to trying them out. I also ran Cat's Ear Tribe and thought about Wall of Illusion and the simialar Effect Monsters. You might consider some of these in some configuration.

hey nice deck

Cool!

I'm a novice so help me out, when you have time rate my deck The zombie/dragon deck. with a deck like yours you surely can hepl mine.

Hmm... thanks for the advice. ill try some of these out and see what works.

But what im focusing on is giving my opponent Ojama tokens (thats why 3 are in the deck) and activating my Staunch Defender on my Stone Statue of the Aztecs, which is 4000 damage per attack (4000x3 = game... lol)!!!

Thats basically the main focus on the deck. I will try some of your suggestions, and perhaps sidedeck some of your ideas. Thanks again :)

LOL ! Good Deck Neil!

1 Suggestion: Ultimate Offering, to have your cards quicker on the field. :D It will also help if your opponent decides to Crossout the Set monster, and in that case attack directly ;)

Zero Gravity is perfect for what your trying and a good way to bait your opponent. Also consider Windstorm of Etaqua for the different strategical probability. Shift gives you an additional startegical option to combo with your Stauch Defender or to just make him use up something. Cross Counter gives the doulble Battle Dameg if you can't get Stone Staue on the field. ANd it combos well with the Hign DEF monsters inflicting even more then Stone Statue can. Just some possibilities. Oh, theres a monster card that reduces a monsters attack to 0 for the turn, but I can't think of it off the top of my head.

Remember that Cross Counter and Stone Statue of the Aztecs does NOT work (anymore). I had a deck built around that combo and a ruling made in 2004 tore it to shreads. Oh, two more suggestions, Big Shield Guardna, and Gyaku Gire Panda.

Finally, don't forget to consider Mirror Wall and Fairy Box. Oh, how I wish Shrink were here in the TCG...
Yeah, we went through that a few times here on the forums when Cross Counter came out. Another of those mile-long threads. Cross Counter still works well with the plain old high DEF monsters, though.

Thinking back, I remebered I ran a Guardian Sphinx for it's high DEF. I only flipped summoned it when I need the effect. I was always wanting to replace it with a Total Defense Shogun, however ... hmmm ... maybe I just need to rebuild one of my own. :eek:jama_yel

I could easily see a side deck for this deck that would slide to a Spatial Collapse deck. Just side in a couple of Nightmare Wheels, a couple of Stealth Birds, a few other support cards and you have a nice way to change up after game #1 when they won't attack and start setting cards and waiting for the Dark Hole / Heavy Storm.
Oh, nice very nice. That could be quite devasting... hehehe ;) Also when i play Ojama Trio, that counts for 3 of the 5 cards that my opponent can have. hehehe. lol. that would be a very nice side. Thanks for the idea :D

I'd have to go along with the Mask of Darkness in this deck. Especially if you combine it with Ultimate Offering and Tsykuomi. Being able to reclaim some key trap cards here can certainly make or break your deck.

Fairy Box is BRUTAL with this kind of deck, especially with Stone Statue of the Aztecs. You have to remember that Fairy Box brings your opponent's monster's attack to 0 if called correctly. That means Stone Statue inflicts 4000 lp of battle damage!

If you slide to the Staunch Defender side deck you may want to consider a Mask of Restrict to protect your set-up. It's also great agains Monarch decks (Mobius in paticular)

On a side not I've always wanted to try out ole Mushroom Man in a Spatial Collapse deck. If nothing else it would be funny to see the look on the other player's face when you summoned it! <laffin> ....<now deep in thought about Mushroom Man, Ultimate Offering in a Spatial Collapse deck>
