stealth bird vs: axe of despair

If I change of heart stealth bird and place my axe on them then attack with my monster, stealth bird goes face down during the end step. So can I still tribute their monster to put my axe on my deck or is it too late?

Stealth Bird does not go face down in the end step, its effect is a Cost Effect.

Axe of Despair is destroyed when it no longer has a legal target, and since Axe of Despair being destroyed was the last thing to resolve you may choose to activate its effect.

hold on when does stealth bird go down? I can't remember is it main phase two? if so because of change of heart's true effect it lasts for the whole turn not till you finish attacking. That's why I can still tribute my opponents monster....

which means to me that after I attack it goes face down main phase two if that is when it sets, since my turn still isn't over I can still tribute him since axe was destroyed and place axe back on deck. If I'm wrong I need a bette reason. I barely use main phase one, and I stopped using that bird so help me out....

"Stealth Bird" doesn't go face down unless you activate its effect to flip it face down (it's 100% optional). I've usually "Change of Heart"-ed "Stealth Bird", flipped it, and then left it face up so my opponent has to waste his turn to flip it face down.

But to answer your question, if you decide to flip "Stealth Bird" face down, destroying "Axe of Despair" in the process, you can then offer the "Stealth Bird" as a tribute to return "Axe of Despair" to the top of your deck.
