Sinister Control
ok strike ninja returns to the original owner's side after being snatched and then removing it out of play, but what if you snatched, book of moon, flip face up, remove out of play? who side will it return and remain on?

I still don't get it.
It all comes down to "permanent" control vs. "effect/temporary" control.

- If the player who activates SN has "permanent" control of SN (no effect controlling him) at activation, then it will return to that same player during the End Phase.

- If the player who activates SN has "effect/temporary" control of SN at activation, then he will return to the same Monster Zone, and then immediately return to the owner.

Example 1 (Permanent Control)

- Player A Special Summons Player B's Strike Ninja with Monster Reborn.
- Player A now has "permanent" control of Strike Ninja.
- Player A activates SN's effect and will then retain control of SN when it returns.

Example 2 (Effect/Temporary Control)

- Player A uses Snatch Steal to steal Player B's Strike Ninja.
- Player A now has "effect/temporary" control of Strike Ninja.
- Player A activates SN's effect and SN will return to his/her side of the field, and then immediately return to the owner's (Player B) side of the field.

Make more sense?

You know I don't know what to think anymore. I was never really fuzzy about this until the Strike Ninja rulings threw everything that had been established out of purportion. But let's look at the effects we have been looking at so far.

So far it appears that effects like Dimensionhole, Strike Ninja and Interdimensional Matter Transporter, effects that remove a monster from play and then return it without the use of a Special Summon, are the ones that have the attributes that nova describes.

But when a monster that has been removed from play by a different effect will still have have control issues erased, as they well should.

So far that doesn't seem to change much in my mind. In the first instance, we have a type of effect removes and then returns with no summoning mechanic involved. So it's apparently being ruled that the controller of theat effect keeps that effect as long as he would maintain control of that monster ordinarily Wonky in my opinion.

But in any other case of a monster being removed from play, control does reset. And would appear to be a general rule of thumb.

Also, remember when I said that they hadn't defined our RFG areas yet? Well appraently they have:

Tyranno Infinity
Remember that monsters removed from play go to the "removed zone" of the owner, even if controlled by the opponent, and even if they will return to the opponent's side of the field later because of "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" or "Dimensionhole".

Wow, this would have been nice to know. I guess they see the release of the set rulings as an announcement. Though a mechanic/new zone announcement would be the logical thing to do. So we DO have seperate removd zones. And they DO go that zone even in the event your opponent would keep it.

Not exactly...

When Strike Ninja (and this applies to the other effects you mentioned) is removed from play it does not remove "permanent" control. It only removes "temporary" control.

So, because these effects don't Special Summon the monster (which would create a new "permanent" control), when the monster is returned to the field, it will ultimately end up under the control of the last player that had "permanent" control of it.

Right. Player A's monster that has been removed while on Player B's side of the field by an effect like Chaos Sorcerer will place the monster in Player A's removed from game pile. Thus there is no further connection to Player B. This works just like sending the monster to the Graveyard does.

If Player A's monster had been Creature Swapped and then targeted by Different Dimension Gate while on Player B's field. The monster will be out of play on Player A's side of the removed from game pile but if Different Dimension Gate is destroyed the monster will be returned to Player B's side of the field as per the effect of Different Dimension Gate. If Different Dimension Gate gets bounced by Giant Trunade there isn't an effect tying the monster to Player B any longer so it is simply another monster in Player A's removed from game pile.

Simple. :)

...but the key to remember here is that it is because Creature Swap gives permanent control, and that is why when returned by DDG, it will remain on Player B's side of the field...not because of the effect of DDG.

Remember that Konami is dead set against telling us how the game works. We have to find the patterns ourselves.

Also: *commends novastar for his explanation*
